The car wasn't designed to use MIVEC so I don't think it's possible unless you do some Frankenstein head swap.

It should, but then you wouldn't leave room for the ralliart

Our lancers is based on the lancer cedias/ralliart body but two entirely different cars and engine and horsepower. Now if you wanna do like a ralliart swap or do just the block you would have some serious power!

head swap possible.....with 4g92 mivec.

A 4g92 to 4g94 block and head will swap. the J-Spec 4g92 Mivec head will bolt on the 4g93 and 4g94. While i was in Yokosuka, JP the sailors on base would hook up will local Tuner shops, there everywhere like liquor stores lol, the Cedia engines come in two versions, the 4g94 and the GDI engine. The 4g94 cedia in japan swap heads off 4g92 mivec/dohc with ecu. The wiring harness has only 3 more wires than the 4g94 harness. Just because it's not done here in the US and on this Forum doesnt mean it's not do-able. It all about parts being available and those parts are available in countries like Japan, Australia and New Zealand.....man i love being in the Navy, to travel the world.

but the question is...parts and labor vs. power gain. would it be worth it in the end???

I say no it will not be worth it. Besides sourcing all parts or an engine to perform the initial swap you will need to consider availability of parts for later down the road. The Evo guys have no problem mating a 4G63 head to a 4G64 block because parts are readily available for both engines here in the states.

True. I thought the premise of this discussion was in regards to a 4G94 MIVEC or swapping in the 4G94 GDI engine. But you are absolutely right on this. And to expound on this premise, I have seen both 4G69 engines and transmissions on eBay for under $400. Pick up an ECU and the wiring harness and you can potentially have all the components for under $1200 to swap it in. You've then created a strong foundation to improve on, whether is to turbo the 4G69 or to try a DOHC swap with the Evo IX MIVEC head.

That's the biggest problem, IMO, with our 4G94 engines. The design isn't strong enough to merit it being a strong foundation. Sure you can add forged pistons and rods and boost the hell out of it, but you'll be capped at a little over 400hp and you're pushing the limits to the extreme. On the 4G69 at least you can hit over 400hp comfortably with the added displacement and stronger engine design. Just my 2 pennies. Ignore the mild rant at will.

lol true that, but you would wonder consider transmission and etc. with 400hp i would think thats a little too much on a fwd. But i would say its worth it if you are willing to try.
