I just want to know if anyone knows what the loudest, universal muffler available on the market today is. Preferably with a 3" inlet. i dont care about sound regulations or anything, i just want to know what muffler would look good on a lancer and be hella loud. oh and it will be put on a turboback exhaust (a.k.a. 100% straight pipe) once I get the money for it and finish getting my car turboed
my friend has a full Helix 3" turboback exhaust on his wrx and it is quite possibly the loudest car ive heard, but Helix doesnt make universal mufflers. if anyone knows what im talking about, i want to sound like that......very deep and very loud.
thanks!

If you are going 100% straight pipe than you need to talk to a muffler shop about this. Just because it is the loudest doesn't mean you are getting the best performance. If you want a true 100% straight pipe you need to do a 2-3" pipe from turbo to the back bumper... No high flow cats, no resonator, no muffler. You won't find an easy set up for this on the lancer. Everything will have to be custom made and the universal muffler may actually take away from the potential gains you could achieve with straight piping. Universal parts are cheap and made universal for a reason...
Usually the loudest ends up being the slowest. With the car turbo'd your going to need to hold some back pressure to keep everything pulling hard all the way thru the gear. I wouldn't go universal ever but thats just me. I would bring the downpipe back into a catback made for the car. Have someone custom weld it if need be. Take a look into some of the evo exhaust optons, i would say thats the safe route to go. As for going straight pipe all the way back. DON'T the car will sound like a Semi and you'll literally loose power.

i said i wanted completely straight pipe, and i know that means no resonators or cats or anything. i already have a guy pretty much ready to make my exhaust i just need a muffler. this is why i want AND NEED a universal muffler because nothing will fit what i want. i want full 3" piping all the way back to the muffler.
on a turbo application, you gain more power from NO back pressure after the turbo. this is a fact, and also i witnessed it first hand. my friend dynoed his wrx with complete stock exhaust, then dynoed again with an open downpipe with a QTP cutout (all he did was open the cutout) and literally gained 30 whp from just that. please explain to me how you lose power from straight pipe! also, why will it sound like a semi? a lancers engine is nowhere near close to a semis engine, not even diesel!

I was talking about the comment above. He is talking about a straight pipe 100% with no muffler. This would loose power for sure and will sound ridiculous. My friend tried this with his gti and it slowed the car down as well as quite literally made it sound like a semi. Also seen this done on a 2007 evo with the same effect. A muffler would provide enough back pressure to get the job done. Regardless all i was saying was to choose a well known company. Here are two modles made by injen that may fit your needs: INJ-SES225T, INJ-SES300T. Both have 3" inlet and injen sounds pretty good on our cars. There are several others, i know Apexi makes a 3" univ as well as Magnaflow and Flowmaster. In my opinion Injen is going to sound the best but we all have our favorites. Good luck with whatever you choose. Anything you get is going to be loud due to the straight pipe, just depends on the sound and look you like best.
i can see neither of you completely know what you are talking about.....

You think X internals are compatible with the 4b11... That alone shows your lack of knowledge of the Lancer and car mechanics in general. Next time you try to insult someone for trying to help you, you better get that flame suit on cause I won't hold back.
One last thing you aren't 100% straight piping cuz you are still going to use a muffler. Straight piping is STRAIGHT PIPING which means no muffler... You are just going catless.
Loudest muffler = Rice
No one is going to think your car is awesome when you can be heard from 3 blocks away... They'll just think you're a ricer. Respect the sound restrictions and use a street exhaust and a race exhaust when you actually go out racing.

I have no idea what this guy wants... I see loudest muffler than 100% straight pipe so I wanted to tell him 100% straight means no muffler. It seems like all he wants to do is go catless. I think he'll need a little bit more back pressure depending on the muffler he goes with. a 3" inlet with a 2.5" outlet will do fine but if he does a 3" and 3" than he won't have hardly any back pressure and he's going to end up sounding ridiculously loud. It's exhausts like these that I have to here 10 times a night when I am trying to sleep...
also, englandsemo, thanks for the muffler suggestions. a friend of mine said apexi and injen were very loud too.
He wants the loudest exhaust cuz he's 19 and wants attention. You obviously don't truly care about performance as much as you care about showing off, hence the thick ply wood sound system that takes up your entire trunk that I will guess weighs a good 60lbs if not more. You also have an amazing rice tastic autozone LED shift knob and foot well glow
... As I said before and I would think I know what I am talking about since I have been rebuilding engines and modifying cars since I was 13 with my dad! You are not going straight pipe you are going catless. Your car needs back pressure from the exhaust or you will not gain nearly as much power as you think you will. I also seriously doubt your buddy gained 30whp of his exhaust when evo's don't even see these kind of numbers. 30whp exhaust gain would mean he got 55-60hp gain at the crank. Since you have an econo box I would say a 3" inlet and a 2.5" outlet may be enough back pressure depending on how much hp you are pushing.
As I said you are showing everyone here how little you really know about cars and being arrogant doesn't make up for your lack of knowledge... Don't insult someone when they try to help. If you knew as much as you pretend you do, you wouldn't have even needed to ask this question and realized it is something you need to do the research on your own.
Loudest = Ricer
Ricer = v8 food

He didn't ask your opinon, he asked if you know of a LOUD exhaust...

to the OP, are you trying to stay somewhat legal or is that out the door??

Why are there so many children running around with 9g's???? Loudest is a good way to get tickets. and I gave him all he needs to know, 3" inlet 2.5" outlet the rest he needs to do himself... Almost all universal exhausts sound relatively the same... All that really matters is the inlet and outlet sizes that drastically changes the sound.
wtf is with kids and wanting to annoy the crap out of others with huge subs and performance hindering exhausts?!?! It's like the 90's are coming back to haunt the car scene once again with the ricer movement of all show no go. It's like right when we start getting a little bit of respect from the American muscles a grip of kids has to show up in over elaborate, attention grabbing, econo rice and ruin it all.
If you want to tune your car and do it right than you can't come onto the internet asking for opinions on "loudest" exhausts thinking that loudest means most performance oriented. You should have just searched around and done the research on your own or maybe even talked to a muffler shop because it really doesn't matter what universal muffler you go with your going to get the same loud a** sound and only a 1-2hp difference.

and about back pressure, on a turbo application, the tubular manifold creates sufficient back pressure for the engine, so nothing behind the turbo is needed. thats why tubular manifolds are so expensive, because they are actually functional. my friend with a ~800 hp Evo 9 has a full stock exhaust, but has a cutout before the cat. if he closes the cutout, and nails the gas, his whole exhaust system will literally blow right off his car due to the enormous amounts of power. that being said, a cutout or straight pipe allows for more power to be achieved.
if you arent going to give me a straight answer or suggestion to a loud muffler, then please just stop posting in here. nothing that you can say will change my mind.
