what oil to run?

At the first 3 oil changes I had, I used 5w-30 because it was december/january/february and I wanted the car to be able to start easily. Now I have switched back to 10w-30 and jokingly thought the car might be slower. (heavier weight) but am wondering is their a better choice for race type driving?

10W-30 will be fine do to the fact that the demands on the engine running mostly stock componentry isn't gonna get the oil to run to thin at higher temps. You want to keep the oil reasonably thick to maintain viscosity so you'll have a nice cushion between moving parts.
