Header?

If I remember correctly I remember someone talking about putting a header on their lancer and it adding 17hp? However I can't remember who wrote it. I just need to know if a new header does indeed add around that much hp. If so, thats my next mod! Any help on this would be nice. Thanks guys.

funny how these keep popping up

I was the one who dyno'd my RPW header. I did not do a baseline so I cannot infact confirm whether the header gave me a 17hp increase. Comparing it to the baseline numbers that where in Import Tuner magazine (103.XXhp) My car on a different dyno recorded 120hp and 120tq to the wheels. (mustang Dyno)

I guess I should also add that I and everyone else who has had these headers has been quite pleasantly surprised. The only proof of that I have is I went from a 17.2XX 1/4 mile to a 16.804. I shaved nearly half a second off with the headers alone.

Check out this link to all the lancer dyno's. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=67825

It can be found at the top of this forum.

Might as well finish off with your exhaust too.

get 2.25 piping on your exhaust setup to keep back pressure. so u can have more torque at the launch, then when your header hp kicks in , you can kepp pulling hard. might as well get a SRI to help your lowend even more. now you can have a good powerband. good pull at the launch due to sri and 2.25, and greta pull after launch due to your header.

I think the CAI is known for the down low while the SR is better known for high end.

someone correct me if I am mistaken please.

I think that right, so if he gets the header he's already got high end so just get the CAI for the low end. Plz correct me if I'm wrong.

I already have the SRI and magnaflow axel-back from road/race. I was just wondering about the header because i want to get some of the major hp gains without going turbo.

I thought it was the other way around, with the SRI picking up low end while the CAI has to start sucking the air through the long tubes first, hence the reported sluggish throttle response. But I'm also not sure

I'm not sure if a header alone can gain 17 whp, I would have expected 5-10. But who knows. I have heard a lot of good things about that style header.
