Nothing to be worrying about at 30K. The motor is just starting to hit its prime.

Just watch out for your lifters.

if I recall correctly you should hone the cylinders no matter how old the engine is if you are swaping pistons.

Only if you cannot see the criss-cross pattern from the rings.

that's cool greg and you should hone your cylinders evertime you put in new pistons. You can run 100k miles and still see the cross hatch pattern. If you don't re-hone your new rings will not seat properly and you get a lot of blowby for about 1500-2500 miles when the hopefully seat, though there is no guarantee in that situation.

In short re-hone every time ensuring to measure the bore each time. Once you get beyond .006 out from original dimensions it's time to bore the motor up .020/.030 or get another one. For some insite i did this 4 times on one motor and after for times it was only .003 over original size. Ensure you add that to your ring gap computations in order to get the proper gap for your newly rehoned cylinders.

Don't bore oversize. You do not have to and you don't want to. Just do a cleanup hone with a hand hone on a drill to clean cylinder walls and put a cross -hatch back in them.

It's very cheap from what a guy from this one shop told me. Doesn't take a lot of time and pretty much every performance shop has tools to do it.

If you overbore your block, your new pistons won't seat flush to the cyl walls.
