And I recall that someone had posted about syn oil being bad under all conditions for this motor, FI or NA .... something about the oil pump not being strong enough, or the syn gets too thin at temp and the pump can't move it...

Yeah they said something about synthetic but let's not even start about that.

I'm actually reviving this thread it seems... ROCK just info'd me that there is still one set of pistons at his shop waiting for a home. That's kindof sad... seems he isn't going to carry them anymore after that one sells. Guess you guys should jump on these?

That is the last set. After that we would have to do group buys of 5 for me to make anymore of these pistons.

I have to get stage 1 camshaft and timing belt and water pump and do it all at once.

I installed in about 7 hours of labor and only 3 hrs waiting to for shop to press off old and press on new. Damn lazy shop. Anyway i'm really not one for a review as this work to me is second nature. Will be the 5th piston install i've done on my car alone.

The car has massive top end now and is still running around 12:1 AFR. Unfortunately i'm not going to be hitting the dyno anytime soon as i'm working on other parts like gregivq.

So Boeturbolancer you allready installed your set of Ross pistons?
That was fast!
I still have to get money for other parts and then the labor.

Boe - we need more than that.

What octane are you running?
Any timing issues?
Have you made any timing/fuel changes, or just running stock with the pistons?
How much power would you estimate they added?
How's the low-end and mid-range power?

Details!

Can't you go to the usual dyno place you go to?

We'd all love to see the results of the pistons swap.

I'll try but i live far away now... the dyno is about a 2 hour drive for me now.

I'm running 91octane fuel
no timing/fuel adjustments
running on stock ecu
butt dyno would say a good 15-20whp on the top end... during the mid range though it's killer. The car pics up great now. Nothing like the turbo but it does a whole lot better.

I do have an AEM CAI and RRM axleback as well. That's it otherwise my motor is stock with both cars. As soon as i have some free cash and time i'll dyno it. I'm actually trying to save for the rest of my combo then pay for dyno tuning. Dyno'ing inbetween isn't really somethign i'm going for as i don't care to waste money on it. Id rather do it once and be done. I'll try though. Maybe i can get RRM to sponsor me a little.
