Apparently, the Evo has a higher drivetrain loss compared to a Lancer because of its AWD. But I can't remember the numbers, so I won't quote anything. Either way, the Lancer is a far cry from an Evo.

I have too many people come up to my car and me like. "man that all wheel drive must be nice", and "nice evo dude..", and "where did you get your evo?".. WTF is that supposed to mean? Where did I get my Evo? Uh yea.. I just found it with the keys in it and drove it away. Its a OZ Rally buddy! Some people are so stupid.. They try to start a conversation because they think they know alot about cars and get nowhere. I'm hoping when I pull up in a dealership they will say... "hey, do you want to trade in your Evo for a <insert nicer car with turbo here (ex. STi)>" because, I will glady say. Yes, yes I would like to. Hopefully they will do what alot of dealerships do and just lookup the bluebook price without the vin number and give me my new $30k car.. If they called me back and was like.. wait we made a mistake, I would say.. yes that is your mistake. bye bye. That would be the day. =D

I guess it works the other way also. I've had people come up to my Evo and say nice Lancer. Nothing against Lancers but, It's an Evo no matter what the badge says. There's a guy in my town with a Rally Art with a Evo VIII wing on it, it made me take a dubble take.

Yeah, I saw a thread on a Chevy pickup forum (yeahm they have message boards for almost anything now) where people were making fun of a guy who sold his S10 for a "4 door family car" AKA a 2003 Evo. They even told him he should never have added the "ricey wing" which as we all know is stock on an Evo. After he mentioned that his "family car" had 270+ horsepower and was bone stock, most of the V6 truckies shut up.

if im not mistaken mitsu released the 1st base lancer model car late 70's mostly in asian countries, eventually they start upgarding and upgarding this car, to many sub models to mention!!! but still under the name lancer. just to name a few.the box type lancer(which probably u havnt seen, 80's, the mirage early 90's,the oz, ls, es, evo's, rallyart 00's. so what ever model u own now, always remember it all started with a old rusty car name LANCER!!!!!

^ so true, and the 70s version wasn't very pleasing to look at either. Some of you don't realize that about 20 years ago the Dodge Daytona and the Dodge or Plymouth Colt was just a rebadged Lancer (or in some cases, a Mirage). Look at that Pinto lookalike if you want to know what the earlier Lancers looked like.

I have the ken style kit with an evo VII wing and some 17inch rims. I also changed the stock grill to the evo style grill but in no way does it look like an evo8. Everytime I go out I get the same question "hey, is that an Evo?" when I tell them no they are usually like wow it looks really nice. I am not trying to look like an evo but if it gets mistakin for one, so what. I have a good looking car that I enjoy and now that I'm pretty much done with the exterior I will keep working on the performance aspects. It's one think to take a $30,000 car that is already fast and good looking and have fun in it and its another to take a $15,000 car, personalize it and have fun working on it to make it the way you want it.

I have the ken style kit with an evo vii wing and vis carbon evo hood. Ever since i put that wing and kit on, like 2 yrs ago, that is all i ever get. "Your EVO is hott" "Is that your EVO out there". Do you see an intercooler in that opening? I have had people agrue with me and my friends that its really an EVO, I'm just trying to trick people by putting the Lancer badges on the car. Can you say MORON!!!!!! I even decided to get a personalized plate that says What Evo so people would stop asking, but that doesn't work. I give up.
