They are only replacing the ecu on vehicles where the idle isn't right either, not just the rpm hang like I got, the rest of us are screwed.

ok so if I did the recall and it still gets the rpm hang, i get to have my ecu replaced? if so, do i call HQ or just the dealership? and lastly, if they do replace it, do they replace the plug? cause my wires are all chopped from the piggyback ecu

alright, so i went back to the dealer this afternoon and told them again what was goin on, so he sent me n one of his guys out on a testrun, the kid wouldnt shift above 3k, so i toke him to just give it hell, so he started shifting more around 5k and he said "Man, thats really annoying" so we went back and ran it for a code, nothing, so on to the next idea

the explanation he gave me was that when the flash was done it restet everything as to like where the car was never started before, so he said that there may be carbon build up in the throttle body, which maybe the car got used to and self adjusted as it built up inside and that the flash reset that as where it didnt kno there was carbon.

so they cleaned out the throttle body and tweeked w/ the idle a littl bit and sent me on my way, it seems like it helped. my idle isnt jumping around as it was before, and the hang isnt nearly as long as it was before. it still hangs a little bit, but im not sure if it was like that at all before because i never really payed attention to it before the flash, but the cleaning helped it enough to where it dosent jerk the car when you let the clutch back out like it was doing.

This is exactly what they did today to my car... the cleared the buildup out of the throttle body and tweaked the idle... everything seems to running great... ill keep you guys updated if it returns

From what Ive seen cars with aftermarket cat back exhausts are really back firing a lot since the recal. I think I'm going to wait a bit longer to decide if I actually want to do this one.

errg i hate going to the dealers...they always rip me off....last time i brought my car in for them to "buff" the scratches as when i bought this car used from them they promised to do so, i think they just used some darn scratch-X cream to rub around the scratches....it made no difference at all and maybe because im just a darn 16 year-old asian kid with an uncle who looks even younger than me, they wouldnt take my complains and ignored my dissatisfaction......and i didnt really do anything aout it...i was too scared to tell that guy to bring out the manager.....haha.. stupid me~

yeah i contribute this to the rpm hang. you are getting more backfire cuz instead of the rpm dropping off nicely when you shift there are staying high, but there isn't any load on the system. i have noticed this too with mine, but figured it was cuz of the rpm hang.

i am going in to the dealer today to see if they will do anything about the hang issue. though i have noticed it has gotten a little better then when it was first flashed (but still does it from 3rd to 4th EVERY time)

got back from the dealer checking out the rpm hang and basically he said that he knows exactly what i'm talking about cuz he saw it happen at both high and low rpm and between different gears and that all he could do was to make a report and call the tech hotline regarding the problem....however, he didmention that if enough people report the same problem and get the dealers to make reports then mitsu has to come out with a fix for the problem....so all of you that have had the recall and have this problem, make sure to get this into the dealer and get them to make the report

car was drop off at dealer for an hour or so. picked it up... the car has no recent reflash so hang = gone. only reason ecu was replaced was for low idle that occurs on some 02-03s... problem is, after the 15minutes learning time etc, and the drive home. I look down at the last stop light before i was at my apartment and saw the tack was still sitting on the 500 tick ( i mean just above so that the needle and the 500pt were "touching" ) but i will wait a few days to see whats up.

im just gonna wait on this....i got the letter but had no time to go down to the dealership and im kinda glad i didnt.

I've got the RRM header waiting to go on so maybe I'll just skip this recall and put the header on sooner.

Just out of curiousity could not having this recall performed have any negative effects even if I was running a header.

my car goes back in on Monday. im interested to see what they plan on doing being that my throttle body was thoroughly cleaned at the end of June...not to mention my idle is insane. it's hanging like crazy after revs and then the idle sticks at 1300rpm and eventually drops to 1100rpm i am going to request a new ECU, a reflash with the old software, or im just calling HQ in front of the service departments supervisor. i cant even drive the car anymore, i go to shift from 1st to 2nd and the rpm jumps so high i need to literally wait 4 seconds to put it in gear.
