I don't know why people say it is a waste of money to mod a Lancer anyway. First of all, the Lancer is cheap to buy and own. Not to mention maintain, but that changes when you mod. If I owned one I would feel the need to mod it. I don't modify my car because it needs it. So to answer the question in this thread. Why mod the Lancer? Because it needs to be.

 

not many people are into modding the regular lancers, and basically that is the whole reason that people buy the evo, to have a fast car and make it faster. As far as i know, evo's are far more expensive to mod than the lancer.

man im so dissappointed in my lancer...
tonight i was going to applebees with a few friends, we were on an expressway, which had stoplights. so we stopped next to each other, my frd had a stock 03 camry or something, and we both had auto..... we had to turn right into applebees so i tried to mess with my frd by not letting him cut from the left lane into mine but TINK the light runs green, we both floored our cars and eh.... .5sec after he was 100feet in front of me......
this made me think if i should mod my lancer on performance, or just sell it (which might worth less than half of the price i bought it for 1 year ago) and get a new car...

 

I just got back from an Evo Meet-Up, and a nice thing happened. The Evo guys know I love the Evo and I wish I had one, but I can't afford one right now, and I don't want that kind of debt (not sure if I'm gonna keep working of go back to school full time) so I've just got my lancer which I love. Anyway one of the Evo guys gave me props cuz I'm building my car and most of the evo owners just bought theres, and a lot of them agreed. I dunno made me happy, looks like some evo owners can appreciate a modded lancer.

I think people mod lancers because they simply cant afford anything else. They try to make their car distinct just to make themselves feel better. Sort of like how a certain race of people buy 1987 camrys and throw aluminum wings and chrome trim all over it.

 

I think we're going to close this thread and not fight about it until the next time a n00b posts a "why mod the Lancer" thread.
