The Ultimate Milage and Gas Milage Thread!
Ok, here's my thoughts...
since you said you unplugged your battery, I'd imagine it was quiet a while before you replugged it back in. So you might have re-set your ECU, which after the first time you turnback on your car, it recollects all the info on your car to remap your gas requirment.
Assuming your cut off INCREASED your back pressure, which causes the engine to user more power to open up the valves for exiting gas, thus making your milage go up.
I'd say if you are still under warranty, go get it checked at dealer
OR, better yet, buy my 02 Yellow OZ for 9G

I think a few mins....I'd suggest you do that after an oil change, so it'll pick up the maximum benifical mapping for your flow.
But say if you have time on your hand for an oil change yourself, let it sit unplugged for a few mins will do I think. To be on the safe side, keep it unplugged for a while.

again, I don't think this will cost you this much of an mpg change.
Maybe you are too hasty to judge, keep track of your gas calculation for a few months then see. Not just one time deal. (I had a close to 40 mpg once, I am sure I calculated right, but I ignored it anyway)

umm i would just recomend a spark pug socket and an extension its very easy just remove your coil packs and plug wires then remove the spark plugs either replace them or check the gap on the plugs and make sure they are not fouled. Takes about 30 mins to complete
just do a basic mainentenance tune up I think people want to think that they have severe problems when it is just a simple fix. Also if you muffler you put on was a cheap knock off it could have increased back presure causing the loss in mileage
Didn't the original version of this thread include people mentioning why it's pointless to compare how many miles per tank because nobody fills up at exactly empty? If you can't divide miles on a trip meter by gallons filled, your information doesn't really help much. 1/4 tank is not an accurate measurement.
