also keep in mind that the numbers on a window sticker like for our cars are like 28/35, these are estimates by the EPA, so many variables change it...for instace, mods, age of car, mileage on car, tire pressure, octane of fuel, have a dragging brake pad, upkeep...etc.
I'm aware that higher revs burn gas..I said the highest it sees is that..and thats if she's flooring it...of which she rarely does.

I believe I calculated wrong her mileage per tank is closer to 240

She has no mods..the car is three years old, tire pressure is fine. Always 87 octane..havent checked pads. Upkeep..heh, well thats why i'm here.

i think you and me are in the same boat. mines an '03 OZ manual. 3 years old, just clicked over to 60,000 miles yesterday and i get 22-24 mpg and about 240 miles per tank. but i'm thrilled with that. i've never had a car that got more than 16 mpg. also i have NO mods.

i wouldnt measure the gallons to the tank, because you dont really empty the tank each time. Just fill the tank till the pump clicks off, then reset your trip meter, then after 3/4 tank is gone, fill back up and divide the miles you traveled by how many gallons it took to fill up the tank. And a lot of things say that at least an intake and exhaust/muffler improve gas mileage by letting the engine breath better. You can find some cheap intakes that do the job. All you really need is a MAF sensor adaptor and filter, then make your own bracket to hold it up

i get around 240 to 3/4 of a tank, probably around 280-300 to a full tank. all of my driving is suburban streets, no highway. the best thing i would suggest to you is to put donuts on all 4 hubs and that should give her some pretty good gas mileage.

i have the same problem as you do michael. My 02 auto has about 45000 miles on it and used to get about 300 driving to almost E. Now at almost E I'm getting about 250 max. It's been like this for a while now so I guess i'm just going to have to live with it

270 miles to a tank is more like 20~21 mpg... which sucks!

I just had my timing belt and plugs changed at 60,000 miles and my mileage went from 23~25ish to 32~ish city miles.

Those are awesome numbers. I get 360 kilometres which is about 220 miles on my auto oz.

I think its an auto thing.

I asked this in the other mileage thread but no one answered. Is it normal to have the black soot all over the chrome tip at the end of your exhaust? My friends civic's exhaust looks squeeky clean. Am I running too rich or do lancers in general run rich?

Hmm I consistantly see at least 300 a tank and my '02 has close to 80k on the odo. not sure how the previous owner treated it with scheduled mtc, but there are no mods on mine. My previous car was a Nissan Sentra and it got to the point where i was getting like 12mpg highway driving only. i changed the plugs, changed the distributor, changed from a fram air filter to a K&N, changed the fuel filter. i did some other things and my gas mileage went back to normal, but shortly after that my EGR valve went nuts and i developed a vacuum leak. I cant say exactly which it was or what combination of changes brought my mileage back up since i did them all at once, but its a start.

And u have a manual so ur obviously gonna get better gas mileage. Like previously stated its an auto thing so u wouldnt kno.

even at 24mpg u shouldnt worry. My car i really tend to get 23mpg and my roommate gets 21mpg in his auto lancer.

take a look at this tread. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=139124

Scroll half way down and look at the pic of the window sticker that i posted.

EPA says our cars get WITHIN THE AREA OF 24/31. Which means it can be slightly higher or slightly lower.
