And why do people post asking for advice on saving gas? They don't want to use the REAL advice: drive less/ cut out as many under 5 mile trips as you can, share a ride with someone else, use the gas pedal less when you do drive.
there's no magic bullet that will allow you to drive like you're on the track and still get MPG comparable to an early 80's civic (47MPG per the EPA) or a hybird
It's all about the racer's creedo: pay to play.

Even with toys like that I'm only getting 26-ish MPG (AFR at 12.8 at open loop- any higher and it's too dangerous). Stock AFR at open loop, for reference is 11-ish.

indeed. hey i didnt kno u could add power with a widband and safc and save gas... thats amazing.. i would do that but honestly im the biggest engine newb on the planet.
Hrm.. well, stock I was getting about 30/33 or so if I remember correctly. It wasn't stock for very long lol.
But now, after my RRM Header, RRM Test Pipe, Magnaflow Catback, and Injen SRI, I'm getting 33/42 solid. (thats in miles per gallon city/highway) I think if I got a SAFC and a tune, it would help even more. Maybe if gas prices go up more around Christmas, I'll ask for one.
But, other than that, change oil regularly, keep a CLEAN air filter, and shift at low rpms.

Oh, my 26MPG is mostly city. On longer trips I'll see 29-30.
I checked earlier this week and I was getting 29mpg which is a mix of highway, city, interstate driving.. What sucks is I only drive where I have to and I'm still driving 90 miles a day... work and class only.

Adding fuel management will lean out the WOT areas, but you'll still be gettign way worse MPG than if you just drove at a reasonable rate.

and 29MPG isn't that far off of the EPAs MPG ratings (which are known to be skewed high by at least 3 or 4 MPG). My advice is get one of the fuel system cleaners and switch to a decent brand of gas: Shell, 76, Chevron.
