My theory is this, you bought the cheaper oil and at high operating temps the viscossity of the oil became thinner which allowed the engine internals run a little easier but dare you try to rev the engine or race with it, you can expect a new engine very soon.

Thinner oil makes an engine run easier but isnt always better. Only thing you'll get is maybe an initial mpg increase but also an increased wear on the engine internals. I'd go back to the oil you used before.

Thats because your car doesn't require 93 octane. If it doesn't reccomend using a higher octane in your car its because if you do use a higher octane it won't really make a difference. But running it is ok and it may burn cleaner but it won't have much effect on your mpg.

yeah it will. The higher the octane, the better it burns=better mileage. its about an equal trade off, you get more miles but pay more, the lower the octane, you pay less but get less miles.

Ummmm once again you don't entirely know what you are yapping about. High octane gas locally (since you cited a MN doc) is non-oxygenated gas in about 75% of the stations outside of the twin cities. Non-oxygenated gas has been proven to produce better mileage and is probably a good reason for why people automatically think the higher octane gas = better mileage, when it is not always the case.
