Wow guy, where the hell are you getting this oil filter stuff from? No one brought up the filter at all in this thread. Just the oil. And not to argue, but I believe the air filter quality works the same as quality in an oil filter. If its a crappy oil filter, it doesn't clean the oil as well and won't last as long.

If mileage is what your worried about, keep ALL of your filters changed regularly, keep your plugs and wires changed regularly, and stay off the throttle. You can also get a gain by installing any type of CAI with a K&N air filter. Also, free up your exhaust with a highflow cat or testpipe. And everyone you'll ever talk to swears that upgrading your ECU with either a piggyback or reflashing it can give you a 2-3 mile per gallon increase. That is not neccessarily with the Lancer but everyone I have ever talked to about any car has told me they gained atleast 2 miles to the gallon.

the problem with the RRM piggyback is that you have to upgrade to 89 octane which is 10 cents more per gallon. But yeah just throw on a aftermarket intake and a muffler and your gas mileage should increase a bit. If you have the money, get a wideband o2 sensor and a SAFC and lower the fuel input at the higher rpms. Our cars use too much, so you also gain a few HP.

Dude search for Oil Filter Test on Google and read til your eyes bleed. They are all individuals doing their own research.

EVERYBODY! settle the ***** down, all oils have to pass the same test, also if the oil isnt doing its job the car will overheat, i personally use high quality synthetic oil, but thats cuz im like all you guys and want to think my car is high performance..... the truth is it really doesnt matter all that much, its all the same shlt.

I put full synthetic Castrol in and noticed a bit improvement, i think I will spend the extra 7 bucks and upgrade to mobile 1 full synthetic next time, only like 26$ for 5 quarts at walmart, thats the way to go. I get a steady 31 mpg city driving normal, hard = 29mpg freeway/city = 33ish

I've read a ton on that site. We have been debating desiel oil for motorcycle use on a different board and everyone reads the same stuff on that site but draws their own conclusions.

No, they are different. Some oils are cheaper in price because, yes they meet the requirements to make your car not overheat, but some like to overachieve and make their oil better than others allowing your car to perform slightly better and keep temps down a little more. There is a difference

well the oil itself doesnt keep temps down, but it does reduce friction, but usually your car can compensate for the tiny bit of more friction by opening up its thermostat more, and yea i guess technically it is not all the same, but what im trying to say is, if an oil can pass the test, it can lubricate your car properly

What kind of gas mileage are you getting

Every since they have put in this ethanol my mileage has suck. I have stock 14 inch tires with no mods, and no audio in the trunk. I am only getting about 22-24 mps with mostly city driving stop and go. I have new air filter, spark plugs, cleaned out the fule tank with fuel cleaner stuff. Anyone else experience this in there lancers. It is an automatic as well. I also use chevron gas all the time.

Thanks.

We don;t have ethanol here yet so I haven't experienced it davids... besides that I get 26-28 city and have gotten up to 38 mpg highway (that was no stops on the interstate going 80ish) I think I get pretty good gas mileage for a lancer but it does only have 12k miles....
