Help: Guage install

Long story short I have ProSport boost and oil pressure electronic guages and I can't get them to do a thing! I've searched, followed the guides and nothing.

I guess the problem I'm running into now is just getting power to them. I've tried using the "brown" wire running to the ciggy lighter and nothing. I think it was brown. Its a little tough for me to tell because I'm a little color blind but I think it was. Next iwent for the wires behind the clock and nothing. I was sure that would have worked and nada. I'm wondering now if its my guages now and I got a bad set.

I believe the wires on the guages are 20 guage and since I need longer wire I'm using 20 guage. All the wires are soldered. I have to be making this harder than it has to be. I did my own CD player and others, piggy backs and that was sooo simple.

What am I doing wrong? Help!

What do the prosport instructions say? Does the power wire need to be a constant feed or can it break power when you go from ignition to on? I know there's a good how-to in the evo section for a defi install.

I hooked up my boost gauge to my headlights. So when i turn on my headlights thats when it turns on. All you need to do is hook up the wire to a ground and the red to power that feeds power to a headlight. I don't know if you want yours like that, but i did.

It doesnt say. The only info I get is "to ignition 12v(+)"

At this point I just need to get power to them and the sender. I'll worry about the colors later.

Well, your boost gauge should've just came with 2 wires a red and a black. Any kind of sound system wires will work to extend the colored wires to any place for power/ground. I believe that "to ignition 12v(+)" is the red wire. Hook that up to any wire getting power. And of course the black wire is a ground. Its pretty simple.

---Edit---

Try looking at your wiring harness near your fuse box. You could splice those wires, but i would be careful. My method of just using a power wire going to your headlight works with no problems what so ever.

Yes, you're right. Red + black. Think I could use my tweeter wires for power, ground and illumination?

I have the prosport amber/white gauges.
I hooked all the power (red) and white light (white) wires to the CD player's red switched accessory wire.
Hooked the grounds to a good ground point.
Hooked the amber (orange) to the dimmer switch.
Everything works great! The white lights turn on during the day since theyre more visible and when I switch lights on, the gauges turn amber for night driving. Love it!

Did you piggy back the wires or did you keep them seperate?

i hope you were asking if you could use the red and black or positive and negative wires that came from a set of tweeters and not asking if you could use the tweeter wires to get power for your gauges.i installed car audio professionally for several years and can say without reservation if you are color blind do not try to install any electronics in your ca you are just asking for problems.you didnt mention if your gauges are electronic or mechanical.since you didnt mention this i am going to guess this is your first attempt at installing gauges.i would suggest getting help from a friend (in person at your car ...not online)if you do not know anyone competent enough pay the money and get them professionally installed.also lots of people used to come into the stores i worked in saying they bought crap that didnt work.after talking to them i find out they have been hooking up wires from this to that and the other and they have no idea what colors in their car do what.what i am saying is most of these people burned up their own equip.running power to ground or voltage through a low impedence signal wire.i am not saying you have damaged your gauges but really gauges are about the easiest item to install. good luck

I have 3 digital STRI gauges and they were easy to power because each gauge has a harness and you just connect all the gauges together and only need to splice wires for one gauge.

I used an ignition wire under the steering wheel column so when the key is on the ignition position they turn on
