DRL issue

alright sure your all tired of the whole DRL issue. i am not upgrading to HIDS but i added halos to my headlights... but naturally with the DRL on you cant even notice. DRL are on it covers the halos over those lights.. turn on your normal headlights and those halos are covered. ANYWAYS

what i wanna do is either disable the DRL. i am not good with electrical. i wanna know if there is a truely simple way of doing this while still having my high beams.

unless you can think of something else it would be great. all the mitsubishi dealerships have refuesed to turn them off for me giving the whole "its a required saftey feature: which we all know is not the law anymore here in the US.

so is there a simple way for this. Electrical wise i can install a stereo and speakers and underglows yet i dont know anything about the headlight stuff. please let me know. i see all these other splicing things and i just dont wanna ruin anything. with the whole resister and such.

is there a spacific fuse i can remove? can i add something to that fuse that will over right the DRL?

To my knowledge there is nothing you can do. When i tried to get it done at the dealer, the tech showed me the computer they use for all the diagnostics and change codes. There wasn't anything in any of the menus that could get it done. The only thing there is is a code change direct from which will never likely happen cuz of the safety line. If you don't want drls than i think its easier to hook up HIDs and either do the parking light tap or one of the rc cable add ons.

thank you for the info. i just dont want DRL. bother the hell out of me. spec working overnights hate having the lights on when im trying to get out away from things and all that. i love it cause my friend has a higher model then i do and all he had to do was remove the fuse and i guess it turned his off. mine thats not the case. damn safty features.

is there a spacific wire that i can detach where it will turn off DRL but i will still have brights available?

what model does your friend have that all he had to do was pull a fuse??? I have the GTS and the fuse does nothing, or i should say it doesn't do anything about the DRLs. As far as I know, there is no wire you can cut because the signal is coming directly from the ECU and the relay is a solid state relay which turns on and off to activate the DRLs and stays on for brights.

yeah he has the evo X. man this DRL crap is annoying. wish i woulda realied it all before i took out my headlight esembly.. cooked the headlights to open then and install the halos. having DRL pretty much makes all that time it took me pointless. this sux. i wish i had someone close that knew what they were doing lol. cause im clueless with the whole relay thing. or switching the wire to the fogs and stuff.

im pretty sure you can use a relay and do it off the parking light wire......so when you turn your parking lights on the headlights come on. has anyone tried THIS method before WITHOUT HIDs?

I looked into doing something like that before I installed the HID. After poring over the manual and poking around, i felt it was easier to put in the HID kit and bypass using the parking light than trying to just disable the DRL. It's definitely possible to do, just depends if you think the time and effort is worth it.

Ive done the relay nd parking light wire, and it works fine. Only problem is the relay i have is ****ty, and sometimes one of the hids wont fire so i will have one light on, and i will have to start the car first, then turn on my hids. But atleast it works. And you might see the lights flicker just a lil bit at first when you turn them on, but dont worry, they are suposed to do that cause they are heating up.

did your HID kit come with a ballast? cuz if it did you don't need a relay to trigger them. The P lights have more than enough to signal the ballast and keep those tiny little bulbs on.
