Bummer about the weather. It's so weird that when you really want to get something done, obstacles always pop up.

For a long time I have been trying to figure out why everyones times seem so slow compared to track times that I have seen.

I ran a 16.5 pretty much stock
Cih ran a 16.3 with a AEM CAI

You guys are running mid to high 16's with a lot of money invested. Canada has a lot less emmisions regulations on their vehicles and the cars are tuned differently from stock.
To Prove my theroy My goal is to hit a 15.9 while spending under $500 CDN. (Guessing about 375 USD)

This idea came up when Cypoth installed a RRM piggyback and had nothing but problems and a car that ran crappy and slow. The second of that is when another member from Ottawa installed a RRM turbo (intercooled) and his power numbers were less then a stock RalliArt.

I will keep everyone posted as updates come.

So Far $ spent. (Remember that I have 122,000km and returned my car to stock last summer)

- $125CDN(Sponsored)- Magnaflow AxleBack 2-1/4 piping

Coming within the next month
- $100CDN (Sponsored) 2-1/4 Center pipe with added bung hole (pluged for now) and a Resignator

- $85.00CDN - Magnaflow Highflow Cat

- $25.00CDN - Flex pipe replaced with a 2-1/4 Down pipe

- $0.00 - (Will machine it myself) Bored Fuel Rail

-$0.00 - (Will Machine Myself) Intake Manifold

- $0.00 (Will Machine My Self) Throtal Body
- $10.00/inch - Custom made buterfly's (EDM cutter charges me $10.00/inch - Materials are sponsered)

$0.00 - Remove Acessorie Belt (AC, PW Steering)

$0.00 - (Make Myself) Short Ram Intake w/ RMR style (but different) heat sheild

Total Aimed Cost for now:$350.00

Later Installs:
Injectors
Grounding Kit
Fuel pump
Fuel Regulator
Wires
Plugs

Much Later installs:
MSD Ignition System
Cams
Headers

The bung hole is being put in the center pipe for when I install my downpipe. The Lancers Computer is designed to have 1 O2 sensor before and 1 after the cat. Putting in the bung will elimiate the CEL with out "tricking" the computer into thinking everything is normal via CEL Eliminator.

interesting theory- and probably correct. *******ed california. Thanks for screwing it up for the rest of us {onefingersalute}

I wouldn't get too eager to go boring out the TB on your own. A few things to keep in mind from when I paid to have mine done: The TB isn't perfectly round, it's slightly oval inside. That makes a milling machine setup a little tricky; and it makes doing this with a dremel or angle grinder out of the question. Then there's the throttle plate. It has to not only match the shape of the TB, but then the edges have to be fluted to match the cone on the inside and create a good seal. The bar that holds the TB has to be reamed, too, to accept the larger plate.

You're also going to want fuel management if you're installing cams or are trying to get real power.

good luck though

Danno-

My best time ever was a 16.4 stock except for the muffler (was on when I bought it). Consistantly runs 16.6-16.9s

Is anyone besides me having trouble shifting into 3rd gear ?? I had that problem earlier this year and that's cost me a few runs. My quickest to date has been an .86 / .87 but i bought a sh*tload of mods over the winter so i was hoping to make a run for the 15's. Hasn't happened yet. I was thinking about taking out my piggyback when i get home in the fall and running it on the stock ECU again.

why would you want to take out the piggyback? isnt it supposed to give you more power?

actually 03RL might have a point- are you driving an actual 1/4 mile, or a metric approximation? Also, are you sure your track is level? There's a dragstrip at the track I autocross at. If you set a ball on the start line and let it go it would gain enough speed to make a 17sec run My slips will be coming from the newly paved, NHRA sanctioned, laser levelled track as pacific raceways.

LR03 (wow, now that's confusing ) no 3rd gear shift problems. Did you do the complete bushing upgrade?

My car seemed to be running a bit on the rich side. You know - fuel odor, black exhaust. The piggy is supposed to give you more power but i just have not felt anything special with the PB on.

hahahaha. that's funny.

No i have not. I still have the stock shifter & bushings. I was debating on getting an aftermarket shifter & kartboy bushings when i get home in the fall ( i'm currently in the middle east ) Either that or i was going to trade in my OZ and get an Evo. I know i still have a few tenths in the car - i just need to get them out

PB is supposed to lean it out. That's odd. Something is wrong there.

If he has a test pipe, that explains it. I hate those damned things- kill torque, give maybe 1hp above 5K RPM, stink like a **** and give your car that nice riced-out fart-can-wearing Civic sound

I do have a test pipe engineerboy - kamikaze headers ( no o2 eliminator ) test pipe and cat back. Plus Boe's bored fuel rail / AEM CAI / Magnacor wires with iridium plugs / RRM's P & P intake mani with throttle body / piggyback / ground wire kit...... as far as engine mods go

the cat is designed to cut down on the soot that exits the exhaust. That may be giving the appearance of a rich condition, and the ECU may be compensating some for the extra air by giving more fuel... but then the PB is supposed to be leaning out....

OK no more OT from me. This needs some searching and then maybe a new thread- and you being in the country to drive the car so we can get some
info would help, too
