Lancer Muffler Question
Lancer Muffler Question
I am wanting to start doing some mods on my '03 Lancer OZ Rally but I am not ready to spend the big bucks just yet. I am wondering what kind of muffler could I get for a reasonable price to give my Lancer some sound. I am not really concerned with performance right now but just want some sound. I have been looking on ebay and see a lot of Fireballs for around $20 + shipping. Please give me a clue.
Dunno what you'd call reasonable. To me, a $20 muffler probably ain't gonna muffle much and will need some welding to match up. If you wanna stay cheap, get an axleback (either used or from RRM/RMR). For a couple hundred, you get a completely ready piece that will give definite advantages. Or if you wanna go for the cheap, see how much it would be to get that Fireball welded onto your setup. It's all about how much you wanna do and how much you wanna spend.
in most places its either 20-40$ to weld something on ( a muffler in this case )
I have an ebay muffler and i think it sounds much better htan my magnaflow did with my mods - and think the performance is exactly the same.

i got an ebay muffler, apexi style.
sounds nice and pretty deep. got axle back piping and all costed me about $110 after it was all said and done, muffler/shipping + installation.

If you go in the us lancer upgrade path it says that 2.25 is the best pipe size for the lancer even if you plan to go turbo. Has anyone tested this or are people just assuming that the bigger size is better because there is a **** load more air coming out of the car??????
I know a few people who just chose a muffler and had a muffler shop weld it up to be a bolt-on axle back. Muffler was $50 and the labor was something like $70-90. If you really want sound, might wanna try something like that, or just a weld-on muffler, but I'm just waiting until I get to that stage in my modding and I will go custom catback or Magnaflow from RRM.
