First of all its not hating when you have somethign that is better then others.. and second of all a lot of evo owners, So called "hate" on lancers because they never liked the lancer in the first place, cus the performance is crappy.. We bought the evolution because of the performance that it came with.. IF the evolution was soo ****ty, i would've bought the Sti and talk trash on the evolution.. Its just like a Food chain.. I can't dis anyone... Before the Evo I had a Tercel which I tried in vain to make fast. I always wave at any Lancer - ES, OZ, Evo, whatever. I do, however, hate when people talk trash and they've got nothing to back it up with.

 

Some of us evo owners get along fine with Lancer owners, Our cars are very similar, but having an evo, I have been told many times that I drive a modified lancer and nothing better. So some resentment comes from the fact that evo owners are reminded of the constant fact that they drive a modified 17,000$ car. I don't personaly feel that way nor care, and knowing how both cars evolved to where they are does not bug me. But for some Evo owners it does I think. But that is no excuse for evo owners to disrespect Lancer owners though. There is a sense of arrogance in evo owners that I have found. The kind that I have this kick *** car and everyone elses sucks no matter what it is, I just don't like where it has gone on the boards. They guys localy that have evos are really cool guys and are fun to hang out with, so other than this web sight, I have only seen positive people with evos. Keep up the good work lancer owners! You have a kick *** car and a fan of lancer enthusiasts.

 

just stick to what you have. granted i dont feel great owning a lancer over an Evo but then again after i modify it, its something i can be proud of instead of being known as the guy who bought power. with a lancer i can earn respect instead of buying it.

 

You see, archangelite, from reading these boards, that most Evo owners modify their cars as well, and we're proud of what we've done too. We just pay more to start way further ahead... We all want to go faster. Hell, if I could afford a 911 Turbo I'd try to modify that too!

It's retarded to say that buying an Evo is trying to "buy respect." That's the kind of comment that makes people not like you. And furthermore, it's not all about "respect". It's about having fun and enjoying what you do/have. Yeah, I get a lot of looks in my loud-*** Evo, but that's not what I bought it for.

In other words, yes, the Lancer is teh suck compared to the Evo. All I know, though, is that I'm happy with my station, and my wallet isn't a gigantic hole in my *** from car payments and insurance. And, really, it's kinda like people faulting an ITR for not being as high performance as an NSX.

 

Err... i dont know if this helps but i call my car a Lancer... I love it.. but its still a MMC Lancer.. with a fancy name, a turbo, some electronics and some drive train replacement. The chassis has been strengthen from a Lancer Chassis. Sooo... when ppl ask me what i drive.. i say "Mitsubishi Lancer".. its only when they see the car do they know its an evolution.

Listen man I KNOW you arent selling your ride because you have invested bookoo time into it. I am not even going to talk about money because I too have dropped a couple o'grand on my Lancer OZ already.

But you said it yourself, it is a hobby. It's about pushing your Lancer further than Mitsu sold it to you at. I get a personal sense of gratification whenever I finish a particular mod and that is way stronger than any negative comment I have read on these boards. but I know wxactly what you are talking about because these **** contests happen all over every car forum on the net. And you are right, you post a modest gain and someone ****s all over it with the usual...you should have gotten an Evo.

ANYWAY,
In the last year this site has exploded and there have been members in this forum who have gone a long way mod'ing their Lancers...for looks, for seed, or for both. And for every new member who wishes to do the same, they read our posts, look at our pics and they see what they could do to their little 4 banger.

 

i love my lancer. would love to have an evo but i still love everyone here and it doesnt matter which car i have....we are all car enthusiasts that is why we are here...no car should be dissed because it is all the buyers preference...i only haten those with aluminum wings (sorry but that is it for me)

I've never pretended that my car was anything more than Mitsubishi's answer to the Civic. And, while the Evo is a "modded up" Lancer, give some due to the Evo in that it's probably one of the most complete cars on the market today. My friend asked me the other day what car I would own if I could own one for the rest of my life, and the answer was easy: Evo. The Evo is a Lancer, but is superior in every way. However, to "hate" on the lil Lancer is to basically undercut the basis for the Evo. Without the Lancer, there would be no Evo, and not the other way around. Remember what came first, and remember that month to month, I'd be I'm paying at least half as much as the average Evo driver given insurance, car payment, and gas. And you know? That's fine for me as a 20 year old college student who works full time. Maybe when I get a career and a degree I can start putting up for a 30K car.
