Amen brother, this is one of the best posts I've read in along time. I feel that anyone with any car should be able to mod without getting dogged on.

 

bad evo has got a point it I show some love when i see an evo on the road. sometimes the driver is cool sometimes he's a d*ckhead. for the most part though i drive respectably when i see them and don't f*ck with them. only on this forum and the track do evos dominate. we all sit in the same traffic.

 

You're a good guy raymerd...that's the way it should be with respect to any car, truck, bike...hell, skateboard!

Look everybody...it's all about what you choose to drive and what you choose to do with what you drive. Some people may just be starting out, so $30000 is not an option. For others, like myself, they have been through a good bit of their life and have different priorities...house, family, whatever. I have owned 24 vehicles (i grew up in a garage, so i buy and sell A LOT!). I have owned some straight buckets...and I've owned some magazine quality, show winning runners. Everything from my first car...a '68 Nova, ::tear comes to his eye while reminiscing:: to a '61 Beetle Convert, to my Lancer. Loved them all and put a lot of myself into them. I always welcomed constructive criticism, but anytime anyone just plain disrespected my work, my answer was always the same...bite me. Then I brushed it off and kept rollin'. The only thing that truly bothers me is the "my ____ is better than yours" mentality in regards to anything. Evos compared to Lancers...sure a stock Evo is "better" than a stock Lancer, but does it need to be said? If so, congratu-f'ing-lations.

If you are a true car fanatic, then you should appreciate all cars and all owners who put effort into them. ::joins hands with co-workers and sings "We Are The World"::

 

well i havent read alot of this, only the first and last pages, but what i can tell , or say is, who gives a ****?

i got a lancer to save gas.

i got a 94 GT 5.0 stang that whoops the **** outta plenty of EVO's. every car has a purpose, so enjoy it.


on top of that... 5 grand into any car will put it a step up. why complain about the lancer when 5 grand and its just as fast as a stock evo????


fast cars are fun, but fast cars that can handle are even more fun, i'm not saying my stang cant handle, but its not stock, so I DONT KNOW ABOUT U ALL BUT I LUV MY LANCER!!! all i got is 17's and it handles WAY better than my stang already (mainly because of the weght distribution though)

 

Why cant we all just stand together and hate car brands like Honda and American cars.

I drive an Evo and I'm still all for lancer owners making their cars better. I do think that its way cooler when they have their own style though instead of trying to make their car just look like an Evo. There are so many kits out that make lancers look awesome. Ive seen some killer paint jobs and stereo setups too that I really admire. Only thing I don't care for is making a car look exactly the same as something its not.

 

people that hate lancers are lame, people that have evos are lame. me i just hate both.

man, i think publilc bus transportation is better than your lancers and evos! cant beat 40" rims, seating for 60, own chauffer.

Honestly guys
Too much effort is being wasted on this Lancer vs Evo issue. Bottom line, it is not a problem with the cars but with the level of maturity of those individuals whose actions have raised this issue. There are guilty individuals on both side of this matter as this post has demonstrated. There are also many that are above this attitude who drive either Lancers or Evos. I love my Lancer, as previously stated, I have enjoyed modifying it. It is the type of car that bets fits my needs (fuel economy, handling, etc), better than a Evo would. In the 4 door economy sedan class, I feel that the Lancer is one of the best cars around specially when it relates to it's potential. With that said, I also think that an Evo is an excellent piece of automotive performance.

leaves room to do things myself not pay for a factory to do it

I must have to agree here...
Me, if I had a dime for everytime I hear why didn't you just buy an EVO I'd be able to afford one...
But, I've met plenty of EVO owners that were cool as hell... I've met Acura & Honda guys that are cool as hell... (maybe that's because my brothers an Acura guy but...)
It's all about respect... if you respect what they have for the most part they will respect what you have...
Because bottom line is that if anyone that is into modding their car sees a car they like, or something they think looks nice/original they will respect that...
If you approach EVO owners trying to be all bassy & a badass because you feel like you HAVE to to get respect, then you're kinda of asking for it...
Not saying that you have, but I'm just thinking that to start a thread about EVO owners ******* the "little lancers" and making a general assumption about all of the EVO owners is kind of hypocritical!!!

Just my 2 cents...

 

one thing i do hate is a lancer ES that is to ashamed to show what kinda car it is and debages the ES off the trunk.. dont try to be something that you are not.. i have a friend that has a integra and slaped the Type R emblem on it.. i think that is just really tacky and actually degrades the car. But ive met many EVO owners since i work at good year. They are all actually proud of what ive done to my car and the lancer community.. so far all the Evo owners i've meet in life have been nothing but friendly and pretty cool guys.. my 2 cents
