engine light on
No. The CEL (check engine light) comes on for many reasons and you have to have the right equipment to find out why it's on. Is there a reason that you wouldn't be able to take it to AutoZone? Like SLVROZ and Frank Boogie said, they'll check the code and give you a print out for FREE. Best advice...go to AutoZone (or a similar auto parts store) and have them read the fault codes and give you the print out. Then if you need to, come back to the forum and tell us what the fault was and maybe someone can help you figure out how to fix the problem. If by some chance your fault is for a bad catalytic converter and your car is less than 8 years old and under 80,000 miles, take it to a mechanic or dealer or whoever, and it should get fixed for free. Federal law mandates that the manufacturer is responsible for meeting emissions requirements up to 8 years or 80,000 miles so if you are less than that it would still be covered...just got mine replaced 4 months ago for free...YEAH ME!!! Good luck.

I dont know what autoshops are in the part of the country you are from or wether or NOT OBD2 is available is used but all OBD2 equipped cars need a code reader to find a fault code. Its not like the old days of OBD1 where you can jump two connectors and read the series of blinking lights , then lookup the code in a book.

Nice translation.EDIT: But seriously, does that mean your CEL went away and you no longer have problems becuase your "catalitic converter was replaced by a new one, on your automobile"? Or that your "catalytic converter was replaced by a new one, on your automobile" and that your CEL is on despite the new cat, thus still leaving you with an unsolved problem? Basically, is the check engine light still on or not?

i would chose your second option but in fact
the first one mention in your elaborate post
could be a positive anwser
wight i sugest you to be more explicite
for your demand it's positive the cell
AKA check engine light
is still in operation

Ok, I'm about to have to side with J Money cause I had to read your post three times, but I'm pretty sure what you're saying is that the CEL (Check Engine Light) is still on, despite the fact that the cat. converter has been replaced. Have you taken the car to an AutoZone or anything like that yet? You could also take it to a dealer to get the code readout but they will probably charge you $100 just to hook up the damn machine. AutoZone will do it FREE. If you still have the CEL, and haven't found out what the fault code is yet, go to AutoZone. Once you find out what the fault code is, come back to this forum and chances are you might be able to find your solution.
