Hotshot you do have to change the throwout bearing. It should run you about 100 bucks.

You also asked about the phantom grip... it will work. However many end up blowing their trannies with it. The phantom grip is not an LSD of any kind. It's actually a coupler that binds the stock spyder gearing together making the car a positive drive. There is NO slipping. The stock spyder gears were not made for such force and will break at some point. It happens differently for people as it depends on the abuse the tranny has already seen and any manufacturer defects in the gears.

I strongly recomend not going that route unless you are willing to change out your tranny later.

$100 !?! my throwout bearing from the dealership for an 04 was $33 including tax!
I bought a phantom grip, and then decided i dont want to risk doing anything bad to the tranny (bought it all excited and then read about some problems people had with it, learned my lesson, do your research!!! ) so im trying to sell it now, anybody know any mirage forums? maybe ill try ebay .....

04 uses old mirage bearing which is cheap... 02-03 use a bearing that also includes the slave cylinder and fork assembly. That one is expensive 70-100 depending on markup.

mirage parts

so clutch and flywheel from a Mirage will work on a lancer 02+, but for 02 and 03 you need a different TOB? is this correct?

Turbo'd, or N/A? You should be able to get everything for around 700-800.
