Mitsubishi sells this for the factory HU.. they have their own adaptor. Problem solved and all for $31.96

Quantity Part # Description List Unit Price Price
MZ598118EX Harness, Ipod $31.69 $31.69
MZ607411EX Adapter, Ipod $158.69 $158.69
Subtotal: $190.37
So you need a harness and adaptor to play your IPOD on OEM Mitsubishi products.

It seems that the "iPod Adapter" on the site linked earlier is what you need. the cost is just under $160. It will work with the stock head unit and should allow control of the iPod and charging.
The harness ($32) is to connect the iPod controller along with the factor disc changer. If you do not have the factory changer, you do should not need the harness.
It seems that this unit in question works with the stock unit just as the stock disc changer does. On my aftermarket unit the iPod controller uses the same AUX connection as a disc changer does, so it all makes sense.

Yeah the head Unit I have doesn't have either. But I still have the stock unit, since I don't use CD's anymore so it doesn't really matter if the stock one has that.

swapping my old pioneer unit with a not as old,
but still old unit. It has an AUX input.
So the plan is back on.
What any jerry rig tools i can use to get the stock HU out?
and I cant find mounting kits for the ralliart ANYWHERE.
Is this gonna be an online thing or what?
any info would rock.
Thanks.
