yeah stock works, but it probably won't be able to fit the surround around it, it will mount perfectly into the dash with no room on the sides. Or at least thats how my kenwood fit.

It can be made to work if you use some washers as spacers to bring the aftermarket headunit out a bit so the trim ring can snap on.

decided i am just gonna get a new headunit.
plans are postponed til then.
Dvd player seems like a good idea,
learned you can also play videos through an aux input on that... how fun would that be?

anyone have any dvd players in mind that would look good and be budget friendly?

Have fun finding a budget friendly one. But yeah, if you can play your ipod videos through the aux in cable, that would be awesome.

*revives thread*
so i tried to get this part i found at circuit city
so that i could itune my car.
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Pione...oductDetail.do

unfortunately in all of my excitement
circuit city screwed me over 4 years ago.
when i got my old cd player (which is in the golf)
my x bought it for me, and paid for the installation.
so circuit city in all their haste and cheapness,
they did not use a wiring harness...
i was not going back and buying another wiring harness for the golf,
wiring it myself, and then doing all the extra crap,
when this
https://www.mitsubishiparts.com/prod...roducts_id/429
is less than two wiring harnesses and the adapter.
this project will begin in hopefully a week...

in the mean time, i kinda wanna plan out my best course of action.

i need to learn the best way to remove and wire underneath the shifter console, and e-brake console.
anyone have any ideas?

There's 1 screw by the gas pedal, one under the ashtray, and a couple in your center console. Take them all out (I think thats all of them). The cup holder section of the whole console is attached to the shifter section right where they join together by 2 clips. Just pull up on the front of the cup holder section and wiggle the whole piece around the e brake until you can get it out. then you'll see 2 more screws at the base of the shifter section that were previously covered up. Take em out and pull out the shifter section (the cig. lighter has a plug to disconnect also, and take off the shift knob too).

My car is a manual, so the auto version might be different, but it shouldn't be to hard. Once all that's out, lay down the wires!
