Flip Flop Trunk Modification (new solution)
This vs. Autoloc
Thanks. I think the AutoLoc does not require any holes to be drilled but I could be wrong.. however this seems to work pretty well. You are right about the pin stripes... they will go away when I get a body kit... get a whole new paint job then to fix the crappy Mits paint job... they really cheesed on the paint on their cars. Hope the new ones coming out are better.
ok question about customizing the trunk. Has anyone ever heard anything about making a sideways trunk? What Im talking about is opening from the passenger side and making the driver side the pivot point. if any one has any comments please pm me.
Side Pivot
Anything can be done given unlimited funds... however what you might be able to do is cut the supports and insert long solid cylinder pipe on one side and a short one on the otherside... then remount the support pieces that were cutoff. Secure with pins so that they don't come loose. Remount the trunk and test that it opens and closes securely. When you want to display with sideways open style... open trunk, remove pins on driver side and passenger side... pull out slightly so that the short passenger pipe clears the support that its inserted into and left out... now we are pivoting on the driver side.... what you will need to address however is some way to keep the hood from swinging all the way up since the supports naturally want to pop up all the way.
Hopefully you followed that... I can picture it in my head... question is can you?

my aluminum around the trunk is pretty snug so it won't move.
