Or you could take it to an Car service place, ie Jiffy lube or Midas (First 2 off the top of my head) and have them to a drain/refill for like ~$30 or a Flush for like ~$90.

Your call, hope this helps

definitely don't go to jiffy lube. barf!

you will probably need special ATF, i am unsure whether you can use regular ATF or not. i know in the newer vehicles you have to use the mitsubishi ATF. if your mechanic is a nice guy he won't charge you extra to get the fluid, but you never know. you could always bring it yourself and save him the time.

I was just gonna post a thread about this. Im at 25k and I want to do it. tranny is shifting funny. I have a lift available to use and I have to change my oil so I figure I could do this at the same time.

so what I get is I may need to get special fluid from mitsu for this? also. can I get a filter at a autozone or napa? I was talking to a guy who has the lift and he repairs all kinds of vehicles from cars to tractors and he said the problem with taking it to some mechanics is they just flush it out. they dont change the filter.

any more info on this I would appreciate.

edit: I looked in that link. someone said that a auto tranny should be flushed using a "apparatus". I dont have it so I guess I need to take it to a mechanic.

^^^That "apparatus" is just a "sucking" machine to pull out all the fluids. There are a host of different models and names for them, so I'd thought I'd go generic on this one...

i'm willing to bet you can get the filter from a store, not sure on the exact part number though. rockauto says that this is what you'll need. autozone says that it's a spin-on...

rockauto there is pretty good when it comes to knowing what's what on cars, i've ordered from them for parts for my mother's firebird... what sucks is that if they have something out of stock and they don't know it yet... it will delay your order big time. i have been trying to get an evap purge valve for like a week. every time i tell them to substitute another part they tell me THAT is out of stock.

i've not gotten a chance to look under an automatic lancer, all the ones that come in to work are manuals, hehe.
