Engine Ticking?
Engine Ticking?
Hey everyone,
Just wondering, when your 08 Lancer is on, does your engine have a constant ticking sound when it’s idling?
My Lancer only has 4200KM and it has been ticking since I got it…
I did an oil change the other day (at the dealer) and it still ticks…soooo
Let me know,
Thanks

I may not be correct but it may be the cam lifters in the engine, which is normal as mine sounds the same. However when inside the car at idle, do you hear a whistling sound like if a tv was on but muted? Only makes that sound when the car is on obviously, so it's not my hearing going.

as for the whistling sound, i haven’t noticed anything like that…but i’ll defiantly check that out later and let you know
so far every 4 banger (cyl) ive ever owned had that sound, wich is only 2 cars so far. i was use to V8's and my experience thus far was ticking = BAD! i had to have a mechanic explain that it was normal.

all but 1 4 pot engined car I've owned has made the valve ticking sound: Mitsubishi Mighty Max pick up, 1976 MG MGB, and '08 Lancer GTS. The only 4pot car I had that DIDN'T tick was a '80 Dodge Charger 2.2... It's not a bad thing. It (the ticking) adds to the car's character, IMO.
