But when i turn the head lights on the ecu keeps clicking won,t stop even after you remove the key from the ignition..had to unplug it and plug it back to get it to stop clicking..cleaned all battery terminals..any help would be great.

Just cause it's a red top doesn't mean that the battery can't go bad. I had a brand new red top go bad on me after just a week. I was convinced that it had to be something else other than the battery because it was an Optima. Have the battery tested.

I don't think its the battery. Has your car just suddenly stop while driving with a CEL on ?

There was a Mitsu TB on the crank shaft sensor. Evidently the casting where the sensor is located(facing engine bay - right side on engine block right behind the thermostat) is badly designed and accumulates sludge over time and cause the sensors to think the crank shaft is out of sequence and stops the car. You have to wait a couple of minutes for the oil to drip off before you can start the car again. They have a newly designed casting($50) that eliminates this problem. In my case the issue showed up just after my warranty expired and I had to fork out cash for it.

Red top batteries have not been getting very good ratings. I have heard from my local Advanced Auto Parts dealer that he has had several (He mentioned at least 5 he knew of)Red Top Optima batteries exchanged within the first year of the warranty. He strongly recommended the Yellow Top and said he had only 1 instance he recalls of it being exchange because of malfunction.
