I've noticed lately within the last 200-300 miles when I shift from 1st to 2nd, I have to shift harder just to get into gear. If I don't, the gear usually sticks in between 1st and 2nd gear. The car has 66k miles, I bought it with 54k miles. Do I have to replace the clutch?

if its only a problem shifting between those two gears, then it would point to a transmission issue (synchro worn). How is downshifting from 2-1?

 

2 to 1 is fine. 1 to 2 is rough. I'll get the tramission looked at. Synchro is pretty serious?

 

It will be a transmission teardown and rebuild. Don't skimp on any parts that look questionable. Yes it will be a bit pricey. It does sound like your second gear synchro, but do get it diagnosed by a professional before jumping to a conclusion.

What about gears 3 to 2?
