Question piggyback problems, PLEASE help me RRM and evolved members..

ok, I've got a 2003 lancer OZ.. installed: AEM CAI, removed CATalytic convertor, installed the piggyback last week.. the intake is a bit dirty, but not super bad..
installed bosch 4 point plugs at the same time as the piggyback.

problem: when I start the car, it will NOT start unless I gas it. if I don't gas it, it will rev to 1000RPM then just die. when the car is idling, it idles fairly low at about
600RPM.. what SHOULD it idle at with the piggyback unit?

the only time it WILL start without gassing if its a bit cold out, then it'll start and rev up fast cuz the car is cold..

I've checked the vacuum hoses, and the wiring three times so I'm fairly sure its not a problem with that.

I even unplugged the vacuum hose and sucked on the end or whatever and the car seemed to idle strange so I guess the piggyback is somewhat communicating to the ECU at some level..

any ideas??

i recomend calling RRM instead of waiting for them to post. they only read the forums after work usually.

did you follow the instructions from the piggyback? is your car auto? the instructions said that you have to drive it around for awhile, im not sure. and i heard bosch spark plugs ARE NOT good for our lancers.

Did you reset the ecu after the intake?
Did you do all the mods (intake, cat, plugs, piggyback) at once?
One thing it sounds like is overgapping plugs...but there have been people reporting idle problems with the piggyback. Id say call RRM like guru said.

the car ran fine until the new spark plugs + piggyback..
I'll go pick up some mitsu spark plugs and see if that'll help fix this.....
the bosch plugs apparently were pre-gapped. I did call RRM they suggested re-checking the wiring. :P

btw how do i reset the ECU? I had previously unplugged the battery for 15 minutes, is that the correct procedure???

yeah, by unplugging it for that long it will reset it. but y dont you just put the old sparks back in just to be sure.

sounds normal...just drive it around the neighborhood and be prepared to keep restarting the engine. Eventually it will take to the piggyback and act normally.

Ive put 2000km on the car already since last week cuz I had to make a few long trips out of town.. the car doesnt stall when normally driving, only when I try to start it.. I'm pretty sure it's learned all it can.

I'm going to try replacing the plugs and cleaning the filter and resetting the ECU one more time later tonight when im off work. if that fails I'm definitely going to lose it....

how are you supposed to reset the ECU? is there a better way then unplugging the battery?

If you reset the ECU, the piggy back is going to have to learn all over again. Call us today.

I guess you sacrfice a smooth idle for more fuel... unless it stalls all the time, try not worry about it. That's what I try to do! Btw, you sucked on your vaccum hose???
