Ive been keeping my eye on this car since it's debut in europe. 5th gear and top gear gave it Car of The Year. Ive put it on my list of next car to look at for a purchase. I like the fact its a FSI turbo with a 6spd or DSG, but its FWD (sigh). The exterior and interior is sweet thou... I mean, it's a real HOT HATCH.

haven't driven one, but the my fast commercials are the ish. See if you can score a fast from him when you test drive it - they're going for like $200 on ebay.

I take that back - here's one for $660

VW.... no way !!!

I drive a 2000 Golf 1.8 T, as daily driver. I had always love the older school VW. I had one of the first 90 16V 2.0 L VW Passat's I put 265,000 miles on it !! it was a great car. My 1.8 T is a peace of crap I would not buy one every again I hope that it mikes it to 150,000 miles before it blows up.. Its all fly by-wire its more like flys on S***.

that's just the point. the mk4 gti was crap. it was the worst gti by far. the new gti is more powerful and more refined than the last model. like jeremy said on top gear, this gti is the closest to the original they've made to date.

i think its a sweet little hatchback, looks good, decent power, dsg could be hot... i just don't think its worth the asking price. unless they dropped the sticker about 4 or 5 grand, i'd go with the civic si.

i just test drove a new gti with the dsg today...it was fun. It was decently quick, zero lag, and had good brakes from what i could tell

The commercials for the GTI always give me a good laugh. "Can't you put the windows up?", "Quiet I can't hear the engine!"

I test drove a GTI with DSG as well. Good daily driver, DSG is lightning fast. If they put one in the Evo 10 as an option, I wouldn't mind.

yea i tested it yesterday n i loved the car...they didnt give me a fast but i got a dvd haha u only get the fast if your buy it...newasy it was pretty fast very good hadeling and breaking a lot of torque jus nothing like the evo but i quess the new chip for the 06 gives it like 80-90 hp which is real good but besides the performance the car is unreal...very comfotable seats, heated seats, dual zone climtae control, some air ventilation thing, nice guage display and it just looks bad *** no matter what color u get it in just a very nice car i like it a lot now i got to think it over while im in hawaii next week n make up my mind!

Is anyone else annoyed that it keeps getting taller. Section it a couple inches and it would be one mean looking ride.
