slightly OFF-Topic Q. - do any of you think within 2-3 years, EVO XI will show up, and will address the few issues people are having with the X? possibly slightly less weight, and perhaps front/rear bumper redesign? Oh, and maybe, just maybe a couple more Hp?

Cars are getting heavier, not lighter due to crash test worthiness, insurance requirements, emissions equipment, and ultimately, the myriad of options people expect with a new car. I highly doubt the XI will shed any weight.

Amen couldn't say it any better! A good evample of such idea can be seen in the mini coopers... the old ones are so light and small and then put it beside a 2008 cooper and its just a heavier/bigger car... the only cars that thru the years only get lighter will be the sport car ONLY type. but then again u never know... maybe a mitsu car design might be among us and they might be gathering info on what to change for the next evo... but safty regulation will only get tougher and lets not forget the emittion regulation and now the new MPG regulation were all cars must meet a certain amount of MPG if not they will not be sold or they will get an added tax to its sale price kinda like the gas guzzler tax...

they should really allow for a light and/or less efficent version of a car is the user is willing to pay. If someone told me for 2-3k, they would sell me a X that was 500 lbs lighter, id be all over it.

guys calm down, I never said Im against progress, or the Evo not being a deathtrap in terms of crash-worthiness. i fully understand Mitsu Inc. has to contend with a lot of issues in the US, but that doesnt mean there is no solution, other then to make it heavy...
what about using lighter materials? thats a possibility, no? and it doesnt necessarily have to raise the price of the car either...
these days even manufacturers of cheap cars make thinner seats, lighter plastics in the dash, different alloys in the fenders and roof, etc etc...
Pontiac was putting plastic/fiberglass fenders in the Bonneville almost 20y ago... Im not saying Evo's should have plastic fenders, but just an idea

So i think my original Q wasnt totaly crazy...

I don't see how lighter materials wouldn't raise the cost of the car.

That being said. This is also true?
06-08 eclipse > 00-05 >..............................95-99?????>90-94.
Just because it's new doesn't mean it's better.
Evo X is a great car but not a great Evo.
IX > X.
I can't wait for Mitsu to pay some guy $1,000,000 to de-evolve the evo X like they did with the 00-05 eclipse.

your comments is fundemantali wrong
The Evo is not an eclipse. Just because the same manufacturer, it doesnt mean is a same idea.

The Eclipse never was designed for racing by any means.
The Evo was never designed not being raced by any means. And yest the X too.
You like it or not.
And let me correct you at least the IX= X.

Also all the records comes from the VIII's not the IX , so i dont want to burst your bubble but keep it straigh.
So in the US, in the racing 8 > 9.

Well I owned an 8 and a 9MR with the MIVEC. So maybe I should clear up my thought. IXMR>VIII~XGSR>XMR. Also the Evo was designed for not racing. Proof of that is being able to attain 20-26 mpg and the fact that they have carpet and radios.

sometimes i cant believe what people come up to "prove" they point...
That is a total lacking of knowledge about the Evo history and racing.
Sorry to say that but sometimes i cant find another way to say it.
The first part is your opinion so i leave it that way. I respect different opinions .

I would not. Personally I like the front end of the new EVO X. (looks like the classic JDM skyline front end). However, I think the rear is a-s-s UGLY!
