Thread jacked by a bunch of 8\9 fanboys.

The 4b11 is a great motor and is only starting to prove its potential. The 4g63 is older then dinosaurs, of coarse its a powerful motor but are you really going to want to be making over 600hp? The second you build a motor its going to pop eventually because a built motor isn't supposed to last you, which is what many people forget. A built motor is just meant to hold power efficiently, not to efficiently hold the power for prolonged periods of time. But if it comes down to motors then yes, 8\9 is the way to go. However if your just looking for simple bolt-ons i think i would pick the 4b11 anyday because it seems to make much better power with just smaller boltons which is what most people only do anyway.

If the budget is there then why would you want to buy a car that is higher milage and has been beaten to ****? I dont car if it has 80k miles or 20k miles, you know those were all very harshly driven miles. However if the budget is not there then obviously don't get the X, but if that is the issue then you probablly shouldn't have been asking this question anyway.

Goodluck
-Pat

Its true...this thread has been hijacked by ct9a nutswingers. However, the fact that the older platform has so many fanboys is testament to how good it is.

Also, why would you assume every VIII or IX has higher mileage and beaten to hell? My 06 is babied all its life and currently has 17k miles on the odo. NOT for sale tho haha

This topic is gonna get ugly quick. The 8/9 fanboys will come here and bash us X owners

Both are great cars. You can't go wrong with either one. I say go with the X because finding a 8/9 with low miles is tough. Good luck

I've Owned both. The x is a more comfortable and forgiving car, the 8's and 9's have a more raw powerful feel to them. Get an x if you want a comfortable, sporty dd, get a 8 or 9 if you want a bullet proof motor that's cheap to make fast

I Thought about a IX after crashing my VIII last year. A low mileage IX where I live is $25k and it's a 6-7 year old car. I got a 2010 GSR with 11k mi and paid $30k. The VIII with $3-4k in boltons was more fun to drive but soon your looking at lots of little maintenance like bushings and the little things you don't really think about much that keep a car feeling crisp. The X as a daily is still a thrill to drive and still is quite fast on just a test pipe and a tune. To each there own. I'm very pleased with the X.

do you want something closer to the evolution racing roots? If thats the case get the ix. The X is a little bit more for comfort. Either will be an amazing car but I personally think the ix's are more of a traditional evolution.

They are both great and each have their own advantages and disadvantages like others have mentioned in this thread. Just go with what makes more sense financially.

Up to date? like the mazda rx8 is a better car than the 7. Huh? More emissions controls more options like cruise control and useless buttons, not needed at a 120mph. If you ask me or any one i know who builds fast cars.

He must still be young just getting out of school. The extra 5 side, curtain, knee air bag and vsa will help him stay a little safer.I don't want this to be like he's buying a Subi so what ever one he get he will be happy.

That comparison is stupid. They fawked up the rx8 big time. The 8,9,10 all hold about the same power, one is just heavier than the other.
