Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
well after open the other topic.. i would like to know....
what should be the 1/4 mile for the X with 390HP at the CRANK???????
what i know is that we need more power in the X to activate the same times that the IX do...

About the only thing I like in the X is the front bumper, imo the lines in the sides are too tall and too much curving torward the trunk, the taillights look disproportional and the wheels a step down from the IX's.
Assuming 3770 lbs with me in the car (3600+170) it would run around 12.4 @ 110 and I plan on besting that next week once my clutch is broken in. Pretty much the Buschur Mustang Dyno is the king of "heartbreaker dynos" where actual crank HP seems to be almost 30% higher based on trap speeds I've seen which works out well with the above calculator. So a low reading MD may give me 300 whp where as a higher calibrated dyno may read 340 whp where crank is only 15% more, but all I really care about is if I run the numbers at the strip, we will see!
If I wasn't out of work to do at work I wouldn't have wasted so much damn time reading this thread.
I am not going to say anything about the X's or IX's being better than one another, but i will say that I wouldn't really look at the X as being the first year out. This is a new model but its based on years of experience of the evolution, so its unfair to say that and is a lot less prone to problems than say building a completely new platform from the ground up.
Some will say that this is a completely new car form the ground up possibly but what I refer to would be more along the lines of hyundai trying to build an AWD turbo 4, not someone who has been doing it for years. The same designers built this as the last evo's so I don't see why people think they will make tons of mistakes, sure there will be some but they are more along the lines of correcting previous ones with new designs.

Other parts are upgraded, so yes you are right it is not a first year editions. Like the 5 MT or the S_AYC based S-AWC.
Basically the engine and the chassis is the first edition in this car. So it is really not unfair to call it as a completely new platform at all.
Fact is, the most radical change is happened in the Evo history.
I'm a complete newbie to all things Evo, i've never previously owned one, but i've always been in love with the Evo IX, i wanted to get one when it came out 3 years ago, but my local dealer had just sold off the last unit! (in white, the colour i wanted as well!).
3 years later, i've just gotten my X, 3 weeks old to be exact, i'm loving every inch of it, but as i've said i have no experience driving the older Evos, but from what i've been researching, it seems the 4B11 still has the potential of the 4G63 for modding.
Anyway, i love my stormtrooper (wicked white), and i hope the car lasts me over the next 4 years (that's how long my financing plan is), haha, i'm sure it will, but as i've said, i'm a newbie, so not only am i getting used to driving my beast, i'm actually pretty rusty when it comes to driving stick (i've been driving auto transmission for the last 8 years!).
Give me a month before i take on challengers... after i improve my driving skills, then i'll seriously start thinking about upgrades for my X.
