eh.......I'm glad I have my Evo X. My Evo VIII was an awesome car...the only reason why I would have wanted to keep it was because it was paid off, but there were some other issues that I would have had to deal with if I had kept it....
Besides the small fuel tank the X MR is a good all round car. A drop in and a high flow cat with a tune will add 90-100 to the wheels. No difference in sound with UR hi -flow cat, spools faster though. Plus at the price they r at, its a steal. 335 gets next to me he will be choking on the gust of black smoke that spews from my exhaust while I pull away.

As for the styling i feel that the 8/9 is pretty timeless. If only i had a good place to store it as well as the extra money to just sit on a car, id buy a mint condition 9MR and just keep it until I was an old man. My dad collects old muscle cars and growing up i always hated them... but now i can totally see how he thinks. Imagine how cool it would be, 20 years from now, cruising around in a minty 8/9 evo. I know im gonna look back and kick myself for not having saved one.
i actually totaled my 06 IX RS, so i had a choice to replace it or getting the new one. Since in the past the Evo never disappointed me with the newer model, i kept the tradition and i did go straight forward to the X. /i always loved a way it looked/
And sure it worked out pretty well.
No regrets over here at all.

I never owned an 8 or 9 but I've driven both multiple times and I'm so glad I got my x instead. I almost pulled the trigger on a grey 9 mr right before I bought the x and I must say the x: It's more grown up man, it just is a better vehicle imo. Especially after mods, I'm faster then 8's and 9's now, all while handling better looking better (imo) and watching a dvd on the stock navi unit.
I used to have a evo iV & right out the box I would take a 9 over a 10 all day but them they started to make good parts for the 10 & with a tune it wakes up.. The IV was a great car one of the most raw cars I have ever drove but the handling & aggressive looks of the X makes it a win for me..I do mis my Iv but would never say I regret having the 10 now btw I'm working on getting a used IV now so then I could have best of both worlds

[QUOTE=Noize;7351134]I've been worse. I went Evo 8, Evo 9, E90 335i, Evo X, 135i, Evo X.
In the calm after that storm of trading stupidity, I'd like to have not swapped around so much. In a straight line, my VIII was easily the fastest, followed by the 135i.
...HOW DID YOU LIKE THE 135I? THINKING OF TEST DRIVING ONE

Nice car. Feels like an e46 M3 with a more compliant suspension and no rasp. Boost comes on so progressively its easy to forget its a turbo. Great stock seats, upscale feel. The pig belly, e-diff and the wide eyed look kills it for me though. Aftermarket part costs are brutal.
My thoughts are these, I love the EvoX ... the wifey purchased it as a compromise after I sold my Evo8. I missed it, and no matter what car I bought, nothing measured up. So, enter the X. And, well, it doesn't measure up either. I love the X as a daily and a travel machine. You can ride for hours and not get sore, even over rougher roads. My old Evo 8, with it's aftermarket suspension was harsh, abrupt, but OH so rewarding on track days.
Overall, as was stated time and again .. my choice for a sports car, hands down woudl be an 8 or 9 with appropriate mods for track days. Nothing, and I do mean nothing I have driven rewards good smooth driving. However, for a sports car to drive EVERY day, it would be the X .. again appropriately modded. Chassis is compliant, seats are nice .. ride isn't horrid (due to stiffer chassis), and overall the motor is compliant.

More and more of these reports seem to pop up.. It's like at first, no one really wants to admit they're even a little bit disappointed by the 30k purchase they just made, but then later they're all like yea it's not THAT special..
Strip it down to 3000 lbs, I don't think you'll ever look back!

I agree 100% I have had alot of cars in my life TT300zx, TT3000gt, Supercharged Viper, Turbo eclipse, Modded Honda's, 3 Liter bikes, countless other's, and then my Evo 8. I love my new X, but no way! I mean NO WAY does my X compare to my old Evo 8. Hands down my favorite car I have ever owned period! I only wish I would not have sold it!!!
I previously owned an VIII, now own an X, and time marches on and so does the design. I love the S-AYC and it gives the car a lot of character and it's devastatingly fast on a road course so I have almost no regrets. Like everyone else mentioned, the VIII has a more raw and immediate charm but the trade-off for a more compliant chassis and capable suspension is well worth it to me.
The reason I sold my M3 was because it was no fun.. It is a great car and everyone sweats it, but honestly it is a bore to work on and personalize.
I miss my M3 and My Evo IX - But I feel that the EVO X is the best compromise between the two.. It is fun to drive and work on and everyday someone says something nice about my X. Also, the M3 turns to **** after 50-60k miles, no more warranty and everything goes up in cost after that. =0
