Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
Hah insane.. I'd rather be surrounded by cloth and plastics, than metal tho and I've still got crash beams.. Plus I bet my car would be quieter, I've got dvd/nav.. etc.
And, you've got yourself a race car.. Thinking about a more typical evo x, for a more typical evo x owner, it's a different story.
Good luck this year btw!

good news to evo X lovers, they upgraded the SST in the UK, hopefully it translate to the coming 2010 evo X.

Ever regret upgrading from an 8/9 to an X?
4 years ago I decided to really go for broke and buy my dream car (at the time) which was an 05 EVO MR. Loved that car to death, made it pretty quick, and really I had no complaints with it at all. I took it in for service one day at SCM, I was bored and decided to give the evox a try. After sam took me on a crazy test drive and let me beat the **** outta the car, i was totally blown away by the ayc and ended up buying the first black Evox in the US.
It didnt have enough power so i waited and waited for the zchip, only to find that i was still missing not only the power but the rawness and badassness of my old MR. After about 9 months in that thing i realized it wasnt quite the car for me.
I decided to try a different direction and sold the X to buy an e90 335i. Its a great all around car and actually what i wanted when i bought X, but something about it just doesnt feel quite as entertaining and fun. It has cool nice features that i never had in the evo like bluetooth, homelink, backup sensors, and the low end torque is something to write home about, but every time i drive it I cant help but imagine what it would be like to have my old MR back.
Anyone out there share my thoughts?

I'm on the E92 M3 boards a lot and even those guys (the ones that came from evos) miss their evos. It's not necessarily the power, but the "rawness" you described that really defines an evo for me. As I'm thinking about adding another car, I think for the perfect all rounder + trackdays etc., the E92 M3 has it for me hands down.. But I don't know if I'd ever let go of my crazy Evo IX

My VIII was a beast. I didnt mod it much, just tried to accentuate stock... I miss it.
However, the Evo X handles extremely well. I believe with similar mods it will be where I want it to be, and have the right combination of rawness, yet some civility that allows me to go below the cop radar here. The Evo VIII was a cop magnet unfortunately and one of the things that drove me up the wall....
