Look at the VIR(Virginia Lighting Lap) road course test, the Lexus pulled last year 8 seconds on a Evo X MR(3:05 vs 3:13).

It smoked cars like the Audi TT-RS, the BMW M-1, the C-63. You just don't know nothing my friend. People keep talking about Evo handling(I owned 3 evos) but in reality when you start looking at real numbers you realize that the Evo IX get a OK slalom MPH and a OK lateral acceleration in G(low .90).

I am not bashing the Evo but I am saying that you need to read a whole lot more. The Lexus IS-F was re-tweeked last year or in 2010 and they adresssed the suspension, camber, sway bars and many other things.

On a different note, the Lexus completely destroys a Evo X SE in straight line acceleration from factory. A Evo is less than 300hp and the Lexus is like 420hp. You are the one misinformed !!!

When I got my 08 F I didn't think the handling was all that great but thats because I came out off 335I that I swapped out every control arm for an M3 and put BMW performance suspension kit on it. All I had to do to get on par with 335i was Swift Sport Springs.

I recently got an 04 Evo RS and my body told me how razor sharp the handling was and blah blah blah...I wasn't impressed, even when I put billsteins with Swift Sport springs I wasn't impressed, still not as good as the F.

The Evo will crash the F accelerating out of the turns, given that the evo puts down 350 to the wheels, any other way, no way Josey. AWD+LSD+Some good power could do amazing things.

I wonder how many people ragging on the ISF have actually driven one? It's on the same level as the M3, which is to say, a class higher then the Evo in many ways. Yes, it is a different car then the M3 and you may prefer one over the other, but they are on the same playing field.

Calling it junk or trash or garbage is just silly.

I've tracked a first year ISF. Great car. Automatic transmission is fine, it shifts very quickly and has decent ratios. Engine makes a good noise, and has satisfactory oomph. Only problem I had with the car was annoying low-speed understeer, which can be tuned out if you make some adjustments.

All these comments saying the IS-F is not a sports car or a track car are Retarded!!! They have a crazy self tuning ecu which sucks but its kinda cool. My buddy has one making 421whp/359ft lbs N/A and 486whp/446ft lbs on nitrous. He also tracks it. Heres a link to his car

Last year (2011) the Evo X lightning lap time in 3:10 vs the ISF's 3:05.

Also, the op is considering a 2008 ISF (as this would comparable in price to the X) -the 2008 ISF lightning lap was a 3:14

An entry-level IS-F is a full $27,000 more than the Evo, and has a 125HP advantage. I'd expect it to be a whole lot faster, especially on a track like VIR. I didn't post to say the Evo could compete, but to explain why I think the IS-F is a turd in the M3's shadow.
lol a turd it is indeed. Get an evo!!

This thread is awesome, good to see the "Evo vs. any other car" debates are still the same. For what it's worth, the OP bought an Evo back in 2010, he's probably not still considering this question.

Bottom line is...If you want to be Paul Walker and live your life a quarter mile at the time then the Evo is for you! Or get both like I did.

FWIW Yamaha tuned that 5.0l and it sounds like pure win at any RPM.
