I was referring to your sarcastic comments comparing the GTO to the 86. I like both.

While I think the gto is a turd and pretty bland looking, I won't deny the power potential they have. A smart set up gto would be nice but that car is way too heavy imo.

Back on topic. I agree, Evo vs brz is pretty unfair. Hell comparing Evo's to a lot of cars is unfair. Like I said toyota/subaru need to drop it about $2500 for it to make sense. For me anyway. Just so many viable options at that price point I personally would not even consider it.

I would have to agree with the pricing as well. Granted its a nice car, IMO you would have to supercharge/boost it to give it that extra kick that it really needs. I would be all over this car had it been.

Why would Subaru do that? At 250 whp, it would have more power than the STI.

05-06 gto is very nice, i wouldnt mind having one, comes with a corvette engine, great reliable 6 speed tranny.

400hp stock, slightly heavy but with a little exhaust and bolt ons youll be at the 430whp range... not bad at all.

Failure to comprehend my point doesn't constitute an error on my part. I find it hilariously ironic that you keep on with that tired line "you just don't get it" and then gloss over my point. The GTO lacks decent suspension and brakes from the factory. That is a very easy problem to solve. Power is much more problematic. Changing pads to a more aggressive compound is one thing. Building a COMPLETELY unproven motor to handle enough boost to make it relevant is totally different. That is what you aren't getting. 600 hp GTO's are a dime a dozen. A stock LS2 with great suspension (you would be putting this on the Scion, too) and great brakes will run circles around your ideal car.

Not to mention, I would take a GTO to a track tomorrow (with suspension, brakes, wheels, and tires) and run it all day. Do whatever you can to your FR-S to try to keep up, and we shall see how many laps your motor makes it. Is that a little more to the point?

Does keeping up matter though? I can honestly say my Miata is more fun at the track than my WRX or STI was/is. A friend vastly preferred his Lotus to his STI, which down put faster times, or his 600 HP 911 Porsche. Hell, I let a friend who usually races a high HP RX7 my puny Miata for a few laps and he loved it. Another guy with a GTR promptly went out and bought a Miata after he drove one at the track. Lap times and power aren't everything.

I understand that, but I want something with a lot of power. My car now makes "plenty", and I am still after more. There is no way in hell that I could go from my Evo to an FR-S. The Evo is a car that comes from the factory with great handling. However, it has power issues (I guess that my needs, right now, are different than at least one person in this thread). However, as I push the limits of this motor on the street, which I am doing, the more potentially unreliable it becomes if I were ever to participate in an honest to god track day. I worry about the motor letting go. After experiencing that feeling, I would not want to repeat that mistake with my next car...hence the GTO.

Again, I live in an area where fun in the corners is not an every week kind of thing. The FR-S would bore the crap out of me on the roads, because it isn't bonkers enough. The Supra absolutely was. The 2JZ-GTE is legendary for its over-engineering. Don't get me wrong. I am not all about straight line speed. I like that the FR-S can handle the corners. I just like the GTO MORE, because it is bonkers and could be set up to handle the way that I would want it to. A supercharged GTO, which is not really pushing the LS2 very hard to begin with, is more power than almost anything on the road. That is what I meant "can hand with anything". The FR-S is far from being able to reproduce that kind of sensation. It never will. That is my problem with it.

I'm surprised you're not looking into a CTS-V.

Too much crap. That is also why I am not considering a G8. I want no luxury of any kind. I just want a V8 and a platform with a lot of OEM and aftermarket support. The Corvette is another option, but I like the GTO . The Camaro looks like dog crap, and a lot of rednecks in my area worship them. The GTO is my choice.

the mx5 miata is more fun to drive than the brz or frs. the brz or frs drives like a S2000 where you have to keep it boiling to have fun, which is not a bad thing. but if go is your thing, the brz and frs is a disappointment in that category.
