Focus RS
I agree with almost everything you're saying.
I admit to filling in the blanks some too with the RS. I liked the Fiesta ST I drove a lot. Not so much the Focus ST I drove. I also really didn't like the Ecoboost in the 15 Mustang, even though I wanted to. The Coyote is vicious in comparison and pulls to the limiter with authority. I want an engine with a lot of headroom for fun, and that's the killer for the Focus on paper for me. I hope to be very wrong when it comes out, that it drives nothing like the ST and pulls much longer than the Mustang.

They're making loads of power on those with just basic bolton's and tune, more than the evo's with the same mods (torque anyway)

Did you like the evo engine in stock trim? I personally thought it was pretty pathetic (EvoX anyway, never owned an 8 or 9)... the IS350 I had before the Evo felt faster stock for stock...

The Mustangs making more torque because they have a small turbo and more displacement. They make lots less power tuned and compared, even with the Evo's higher drivetrain loss.
Although the power hasn't increased on paper, the output on the X has gone was up since 2010. My 2013 was lots stronger than my 08, but even the 08 revved better than the Ecoboost, and although it stayed flat from like 5k to redline, the power didn't fall off like the Mustang.

even though the power falls off pretty bad on the ecoboost, I'm sure a tune and a couple bolton's will do wonders for it driving / feel wise
I for one can't wait for the Focus RS but I am a bit biased since I have a Fiesta ST as well as my Evo and I love the little bugger for what it is.
I have no illusions that the Focus RS is a race car, since it is not. It is a road car, which I will be using it for, driving on a road, and some track days, as a road car.
The whole race car argument thing is so yawn inducing, especially when 98% of Evo owners commute in their cars to work.

It is the third generation of the Focus RS. Not the first. Yes it is the first one to have AWD, but it is the third generation of the Focus RS.
The AWD system is based on Haldex which is on it's fifth generation.

i am just saying it is a first gen as it is. its a fact.
doesnt matter how you dance around it
As an FYI to add some information to this thread, Ford uses / used AWD on the Focus platform for awhile now.
The Global C platform is shared with the AWD Lincoln MKC, Ford Escape, etc. So AWD in at least some capacity, is not new on this platform.
