The A4 does not have fwd based AWD. It has a symmetrical type, kind of like Subaru. The TT is fwd based Haldex AWD.

If you get an older A4 with the 1.8t, they aren't terribly unreliable. Just make sure to keep up on the timing belt. And you'll want to upgrade the turbo to a K04...

What about a Nissan 240sx? There is a ton of aftermarket support for the S14 chassis.

Datsun 510
This one is sold, but gives you an idea of what a $15K datsun looks like.

I had the opportunity to try a modern simulator at a convention and it was awesome. I was ripping around the Laguna Seca raceway in a Pagani Zonda. What I was most impressed with was the steering feedback and brake pedal feel.

If I could have only one track car, I prefer it to be somewhat modern... I'm really starting to lean towards the Evo again, might have to spend a tad more than 15 though, thinking I'll make up for it by going cheaper daily

I think for the 15k range you would be better off with a S2000.

if your goal is to build a car that you can learn competitive racing with, why not a Spec Miata? I know people lament the lack of power, but I know plenty of guys that went from high HP cars, GTRs, Evos, Porsches, Corvettes, who now spend all their time racing in Spec. I think racing 2 inches away from another car for 10 laps is a lot more exciting that mashing the go pedal on a straightaway.

I think the best, cheap power full bastard and a same time very capable is the ford mustang

I know its sounds weird from me, but if has to stay under 10 grand, i would go for that.

ps: For bit more money the RX7 with a vette engine

on a side note, i have a friend who opened the first official shop and he is the only seller in the USA for this car. You can get into the top of the line around $50K brand new. Very reliable , unreal fast and capable car.
Good for track, like time trials or hill climbs etc. Also very cheap maintenance.

Look when Sordo drives one ( he actually loves them)

If you want something serious, this is it.

This is my friend in a Silver Car at the last hill climb when i was there with him about a month ago.

turn up the volume
