The escort is red, and I know him quite well. He ran a 13.2 at PIR last week(he was stoked!)
as far as that SRT-4...these are the mods for all you whiners
intake(its filter c'mon)
Upgraded TDO4H compressor wheel
no cat
3" exhaust
boost controller
PG LSD
proto-type Intercooler
www.neonparts.net <--its the black one pictured
and it made about ~280whp and ~320 ft lbs of torque

That's pretty good for about $2500 in mods, that's about 55whp over a stock Evo, and from those Videos, that Evo wasn't WOT.
I wonder how he'd fare against an Evo at a Rally or even Rallycross... That would be a good video!
How well do mud caked intercoolers work???

d00d get real. Power to weight ratio. Evo's run 13.7's stock on a good day with an excellent driver. SRT-4's run 14.0's under similar situations. With that much more power than stock...which mind you is a big JUMP and thats only peak power not mid-range! So..if you think about it for a while this SRT-4 is running 12's for sure. Mine pulls 13.2's with a boost controller, slicks, and a downpipe. which beats the EVO's and a local STi with exhaust and AFC. so....have any of you raced an STi? what were the results? how bad did it walk you? think of that....and then a whole lot more. because the neon shown in the video is FOR SURE a helluva lot faster than the one I have.
Think out side the box for a bit boys...and when something is faster than your cars...give it a thumbs up, dont pull out some ricer excuse that doesn't hold weight.
If you want to talk about dirt capabilties...GO LOOK UP THE RESULTS FROM ONE LAP OF AMERICA! and post them for everyone to see. Until you post that information, I dont want to hear **** about "rally this" "rally that" the truth is that your cars came with road tires on them...not rally tires.

About the compressor wheel... couldn't EVO do the same
upgrade? I thought both EVO & SRT use mitsu 16G turbo?
yeah TDO4H ~ 16g AFAIK call www.neonparts.net and ask him about it. his name is Jason....he also has that black car
Simmer down.. You're gonna pop a gasket.
With some mods an SRT-4 can be driven faster than a Stock Evo. Fine, sure. No argument.
The video though isn't even close to a full on WOT run from the Evo. Ok maybe with the mods the neon is faster, but not by 15 car lengths. that's all.
Good luck to you and enjoy going quick!

One other thing with the One Lap of America results. These are not stock cars. the neon there was running 12s or nearly in 1/4 mile, just behind mod'd M5s.
It's nice to think a stock $20k car can run competitevly with cars that have twice the power stock and nearly 3 times the power once their ready to go play at the OLOA, but it isn't so.
That SRT was used as a great marketing tool for Dodge to highlight the car. It worked. Congrats, too bad it's led some people to believe some incredibly wrong things. I feel for the average SRT4 owner who thinks he is going to arrive at a track and "learn a few folks a thing or two".
But hey let people think whatever they want, it's their own life, and if they choose not to look into details to find out the truth, they deserve what they get for being naive.
Maybe Al will post some videos of what a 15 car length Evo win with both cars at WOT is really like. And it ain't cheap to have that kind of pull.

Also it says the neon srt-4 has the following mods.=It has an MBC at 15 psi (I believe) Downpipe, full 3 in. back no cats, ported turbo with new bigger wheel.
He ran a 13.7 the next day at about 90 degrees with no traction.

Oh yeah, at the dragstrip were several imports much quicker and faster than my EVO, including all motor Hondas and a couple of DSMs of earlier vintage. I'd say the EVO is faster than a stock WRX and probably a stock SRT4. I'm afraid the STi will woop *** on the EVO as well as lots of other cars. OTOH, in the twisties and the track, the EVO probably rules
Frankly, I was disappointed by the power of my EVO. I expected it to run in the 13s but it proved a second slower and that really sucks. As I said before, my GRS Integra with a Jackson Racing supercharger and no LSD or good tires would kill my EVO easily in the dragstrip..... The EVO is a very fine car and all, but it ain't the fastest by a long shot.

See this escort vs E8. Doesn't look good again. I'm not going to say if the escort guys will somehow come out of the woodworks.
I already knew when the E8 comes out. It was going to be fair games at the track. Heck, the car is still in its rookie year, and it will probably take a few more beating like this before tons of them can keep pace against some DSM'ers can do on the track.
Otherwise, it's not the end of the world.

Here's a vid on a skyline powered escort in another country.

To the guy that can only squeeze out a 14.4...either something is wrong with your car, or you have the reflexes of an 80 year old woman. The EVO is not the fastest car out there, but it's not that slow. Props tot he SRT-4's though. Great, cheap, fun, tunable car.
