It seems to be a common misconception from EVO owners in general that the SRT-4 can't handle. Sure, it may not handle as good as an evo, but its definitely up there as one of the better handling FWD's. And for around 20k, nothing can touch it. I guess you guys can't come up with anything else to say about the neon. Anyways, drag racing is part of track racing too believe it or not. On that long straight away, watch out for that SRT-4 =P.

W3RD! Nothing wrong with the SRT-4....don't hate, appreciate. Some people can't afford 30 large.

factos

hmmm...SRT4 vs. EVO.

EVO: good FWD car with that I'd expect to pay $20,000 for with a turbo AND
Brembo Brake Package ~$2,000.
Enkei Wheels ~$1,700.
Recaro Seats ~$1,000.
AWD (I luv this in the winter, and my larger rear anti-roll bar helps the EVO behave like a RWD in the summer.) ~$3,000.
Momo steering wheel...~not sure.
Smile on my face for being able to own a 'legend' ~priceless. j/k

These prices are assumed to be those that Mitsu paid to have them installed as stock on the EVO. I'm glad to have spent +$10,000 for stuff that would have went in a SRT4 IF I would have bought an SRT4.

Yes, ladies and gents, I expect to have the SRT4 hand me my ... in a straight line, and then I expect to hand it right back in a twisty saolm course. The One Lap of America had a 8th place finisher as the SRT4, WITH a mopar engineer babying the car all the way. Subaru had a 12th place finish, with a privateer maintaining the car.

After having driven the EVO for a few months, my feelings go out to all cargoers and enthusiasts in general, in that I wish everyone could have a car that is as balanced and refined towards driving as the EVO.

So:
The SRT4 is a respectable car, for starters. Let's hope Dodge continues to 'evolve' it into something more than a big-block 4 cyl. with a wicked turbo, and a dual pipe exhaust. Anybody heard of a 'straight' exhaust lately?

Later,

jcnel.

I dunno....the SRT's stock handling is pretty bad....in most comparo's it generally gets racked by the Mazdaspeed and the SVT Focus.....I've got a 2004 SRT-4 (with the LSD) and a 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege and the SRT-4 isn't even playing the same sport when it comes to handling between the 2. It needs the Mopar coilovers and some huge sway bars just to be tolerable. But for running *** around the streets the SRT-4 is a blast......just be easy on the corners

Good insight on the SRT-4, loj68. This is what I like to read, information from those who drive the car everyday. Talked to an '03 SRT-4 owner a few months ago before I bought my Evo. Man was he irritated about the '04s getting a front LSD!

nice.....I hope to be there with you by the end of the year. I love my SRT-4 and all but I've been wanting an EVO forever and am saving my bonuses and stock options to put a lot of $$$ down.

So I went to a Dodge dealer today...

My buddy wanted to checkout some trucks, so him, myself and my Evo drove down to the local dodge dealer. He was looking at the trucks, so I walked around and started checking out the SRT-4. Pretty nice looking car, nothing amazing but still looked good. Anyway, I was checking it out when a salesmen walks up to me.

Him: "So, you the guy with the subaru?"
Me : "Nope, Im the guy w/ the Evo"
Him: " How much did you pay for that?"
me :"30k otd"
Him: "Arent you pissed? You could have saved 8k and picked up one of these (pointing to the SRT-4).
Me: "Nope, Im not pissed at all, let me tell you why :

1 - my car handles better
2 - its faster stock
3 - I got AWD....

The guy looks at me, and says "yeah, but with Mopar Stage 1, it'll keep up with yours. Im like "honestly, I dont care". Then he says "This car will smoke a Viper", I just looked at him and walked away cracking up. My buddy just lost it and started laughing out loud.

Personally, I have nothing against other cars. Whether its an SRT-4, WRX, Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Pinto...I dont care. If someone has a shopping cart faster then my evo, more power to him, but this guy was just being stupid.

Thats ok, when I was visiting my girlfriend in Vegas for Winter Break (yea, its awsome that her parents moved there, nice houses too), we went to the Dodge dealer to check out SRT-4s. Well their sales manager tried to convince me the SRT-4 was much faster than an Evo, "cuz an Evo does 0-60 in like 6 seconds..." He also made the statement that the SRT-4 does it in 3.5 seconds. I couldnt help but laugh. Those Enzos out there better watch out, the SRT-4 is on the prowl.......lolol

Yeah, I love salesmen...when I bought mine, I had several questions, and I don't think the guy answered one question correctly. If it were me, and I was selling this masterpiece, I'd know the location of every stinking bolt!

as far as i'm concerned car salemen are obsolete, the past cars I've bought I knew what I was going to pay before going. I tell the saleman and they either play the "pass the paper game" or go run and get the manager. You might as well just have one guy with authority there and just schedule appointments. The only thing the salesman is good for is fetching the keys for a test drive, they never know what the hell they are talking about and with the internet who needs them???
