The way it sounds is awesome from inside. Love how it just doesn't stop revving. I am by no means a Ford guy but that is a car I would own.
Same. In 2001, I had a Mustang GT. It soured me on domestics.. well, basically forever. I know some of them are really good, just not my thing. Having given up on one of the two cars I REALLY wanted (prices jumped $30k or so).. I was low-key on my way to test drive a 500 (the newer Mustangs look really good, IMO). Someone told me there was an R locally, so I went to see it first. I think it's "just right". The 500 is just too much car for what I like to do. The 350 is neat and I almost bought one a while back... but being an R sealed the deal. I dig the color. It just kinda fell into my lap. I'm really liking it, though (in my town) I'm embarrassed to admit I have a Mustang. All the local owners are ****tards. My plan is do On Grid's Super GT Cup this year, then sell the car for more than I paid

I have had as many domestics as imports, but never a Ford other than an SVT Contour a while back (which was great). I've owned two 6th gen Camaros and have had my 4th gen for 25 years, so the GT350 is kind of a switch to the dark side for me. I kind of like the fact that I can both downplay the car when I want and call it "just a Mustang", but it also is an attention magnet for car enthusiasts and other Mustang owners. When I drove the car off the lot, another orange S550 Mustang happened to drive by as I was waiting to turn and his passenger SCREAMED out the window "LOVE YOUR CAR!!!". That made me smile. Orange is kind of the opposite of leadfoot gray, but I'm used to bright color attention from my bright yellow S2000 (aside: did you see that a yellow CR just sold for $122k on BaT--crazy!). My white Evo is the most tame looking car in the garage!
Looking forward to tracking mine, but cringing at the cost of a Simpson Hybrid S since I can't use my HANS in a stock seatbelt. The tires are also shockingly expensive. Oh well. Pay to play I guess.

I just picked up one of these Quick Fit Pro harnesses for my civic. I think they're the best balance between holding you in the seat while still being safe and non intrusive to install or remove. Works with standard harness HNRS and they have 6th gen mustang specific units.
I also love Schroth harnesses, they're some of the most user friendly harnesses on the market.

Had the same dilemma with my supra, especially since the supra seats don’t have harness pass throughs. Was looking at the hybrid S but it ended up being CHEAPER for me to buy a race seat and mounting base and reuse my current hans than buy the Hybrid S.
of course swapping the seat in multiple times during the season is probably going to get old but whatever

The quality of the domestics cars has really come a long way since 2001, lol. That 2001 Mustang was not the most well sorted. I remember track guys having to add all sorts of braces, etc to get them to turn well.
That said I love the sound of your current 'Stang, the motor sounds like it just wants to keep revving. A high revving V8 is a beautiful thing to hear...IMO of course.

Wait, you plan to swap the seat in and out for track events?? That sounds like a lotta work....maybe that simpson S harness price doesnt sound so bad after a few times doing that...lol

Well, like I said, we'll see how it goes. In reality, during track season I will probably keep it in for weeks at a time. Or maybe just keep it in all the time. I just don't like tempting fate without a side airbag if I drive it on the street more than just to/from the track.
Also, once the seat and base are set, the swap should take maybe 20 minutes. Stay tuned :P
Meh, its just one airbag. Our cars still have like 300 others.
The side impact airbags are kind of important.
The supra has 4 seats of airbags:
Front impact - 1 on each side in steering wheel and dash
Side impact - 1 on each side in the OEM seats
Overhead curtain airbags - 1 on each side in the ceiling
Knee airbags - 1 on each side in the dash
Also, as far as I know, if you don't code out the airbag light when using aftermarket seats, the car will default to deploying ALL airbags at full force in the event of a crash, instead of just the side that is occupied and how far the seat is from the wheel/dash.

Do our cars have smart airbags? Meaning its not as simple as figuring out what the airbag resistance is and then just throw a resistor in place of the airbag to keep the light off?

Resistors don't work. Need to code it out using protool. Need to brush up on my German. :P
