Mk V Supra - My Evo's Replacement?
+1
Supra beating GT3s with stock power would be an extraordinary accomplishment, assuming the GT3s are on reasonable tires with decent drivers.
We've only had a few Supras on track locally, but I haven't seen anyone put down times approaching GT3s in them.

I’ve been looking at some footage of my new local track, Lime Rock, which is a much shorter and less hp beneficial track compared to Thunderhill, which I referenced before and from what I have seen so far, same type of modded Supras are putting down the same times as GT4’s.
Remember, the gt4 was what Toyota was targeting with the mk5 Supra.
any of y'all know what mods this guy has? description says CSG 92 octane map but hitting ~150 on the front straight means about 550-600whp... stock power supra does about ~137
to chime in on the GT3 comparison, I'm not sure what stock ones do, but modified ones built by Dundon do 1:42-44 at this track. so stock ones maybe a couple seconds slower, on par with the Supra below. Also looks like he's slowly catching the one in the vid, but I don't know anything about it... but based on the fact that it pulls away on the straights from a 550+whp Supra its modified somehow... or maybe thats a GT2 in the vid?

hks hypermax coilovers
220tw supercar tires
Verus aero (**** and front lip)
Couple SPL bits
csg brake pads
pump gas tune in that video (probably 450whp)
450whp? So how is it putting down traps speed on the front straight as cars with 200+hp more? I mean I know that transmission is great, but it’s not enough to bridge the gap of 200hp…
here's a friend of mine with a Z07 that dyno'd at 590whp and friend of mine with a gen 6 viper, not sure what they dyno at but rated at 645 at the crank. both have suspension mods and some aero, race seats. vette has a ton of cooling mods. so both of these have 200whp on the supra, they weigh a bit more than the supra but less than stock weight... yes both manual.. and both trapping right around the same as the supra. is the supra really that fast with more than 200whp less?
(vette he's going at it with in this vid is a different car (grand sport) and driver than the one in the vid above)

A tuned supra on 91 oct has the same terminal speed in the front straight at Thunderhill as my Evo 10 with 520whp. Mainly because stock 5th gear on my 10 sucks. It's one of the many reasons I bought a Supra. I also had a hard time believing what people were telling me about Supras until I dove in a little deeper.
I can ask him to make sure I have the mods 100% correct.

Don't know what to tell you man. That is what the supras do on stock turbo on pump gas. They get closer to 500whp on E30

and vette and viper don't have the Evo 10 5th gear issue... I mean the vette does have a 5th gear issue but it does about 145 in 4th, not quite sure on the viper. and both make more than 520whp
it'd be cool if you could ask... maybe I can convince the vette guy to get a Supra

I can tell you that the Supra is way faster than paper stats show. Between being under rated on power and the 8 speed gearbox, it moves even stock.
Stock they run ok. Turn that boost up a few pounds and it really wakes them up. I havent put mine on the dyno yet but it should be around 420whp and its a huge difference from stock. Plus all the tq down low, it makes it a riot to drive.
Bryan - I heard you need a dipstick for that Supra of yours....

Confirmed with the owner of that supra:
Verus Aero front/rear

Goodyear Supercar3 220tw (non-R) 275/40/18
HKS coilovers
92 octane tune
Stock turbo

Its actually pretty simple. Replace the drain plug with a -6an banjo, 90° hose end off that, add some teflon lined hose with a dip stick, mount it to the intake manifold and you are done. I will be installing the prototype tonight and posting some pictures of it in action. I should have about 20 kits ready to go in the next couple of weeks.
