Corolla GR-FOUR
They put the big number on the sticker so they can cut you a "deal" at only $5-10K ADM.
I do hope that Toyota produces enough of these that they start sitting on dealer lots for a long time.
ADMs got out of control around 2006-2008. When the 2008 bubble popped, a lot of dealers had flagship cars sitting on their lots that they couldn't move. I remember seeing a pair of brand new S2000s on the lot that nobody was buying even at MSRP. Should have bought one. Or two...

They aren't, at least this first year. They did the same with the Yaris and people are still on waitlists for them years into production.
20k or 10k, still insane. People are for sure paying that, and more. I know of at least two who payed $15k over for the Corolla. Lost their minds.

They have absolutely lost their minds! This might be an oversimplification, but a big problem is that stealerships know there are people with more money than brains who will happily fuel and rationalize the inflated costs. The toxic desire for car-based instant gratification is more prevalent today than it has been, ever. I feel that social media only fueled this J@ck@ssery. Couple that with the common and false misconception that the combustion engine will only be available for a limited time....you have a perfect storm. The C8, for example, was never supposed to be a six digit price tag car. Now look how many people enabled that to happen. Many folks, including myself, had a plan to pick one of those up one day. We can all forget about that for now since we have been deemed unworthy and apparently didn't work hard enough in life to deserve one
.They must be taking notes from the San Diego housing market...

Those things should be relatively cheap, no? They don't seem to be all that popular these days. Would be a reasonable way for somebody to get into a sportsish car.
The one in Fresno sold for $59K yesterday.

Last time I checked they were in the high teens to low 20's which is pretty cheap...for now. Hagerty recently did a YT video and it was one of the cars that they predict will appreciate nicely over the coming years.

I can't find a link to the full article, but road and track did one of those "Best of" things back in 2006.
Link to conclusion:

The Evo ran faster lap times but they gave it to the 350z..... Needless to say I though it was B.S.

Yeah, but I haven't seen that be a reason for value to go up. Right now they are cheapish F/R platform that's still fun to drive. They sound good. Makes sense you would see them out on track, I see quite a few getting beat up at drift events.
I don't see any of that, in itself, causing the value to go up. Seems if prices went up, they would turn to another platform.
