Corolla GR-FOUR
It’s slower than all its current priced competition in the States. And I’m sorry, they can keep the three cylinder.

Why is the Yaris GR it's benchmark?
The way I see it is the Yaris GR is the Fiesta ST and the Corolla GR is the Focus ST. Micro Hatch vs Standard Hatch.
Totally different classes of car. I personally think it's silly to compare or benchmark the Corolla GR to Yaris GR but that's just me.
Even sillier since we can't even get the Yaris GR here so why compare it at all. I do know you have a thing against Toyota so maybe the bias is showing here.

I don't see the GR Corolla as the car to get if all-out performance is the goal.
Would be fun to have one as the compact, AWD, family car, though. Would be awesome if Toyota could pump out production numbers high enough to saturate the dealerships and bring these down to MSRP.

And I guess it's not a benchmark, per se. More like an inspiration and blueprint for the hot rod parts- It does use the same engine and a lot of the same performance bits. It's for sure a different car, but it reminds me a little bit when the rest of world Evo VIII had full on ACD, front LSD, and SAYC, and the US basically got an Evo III drivetrain with a viscous center and an open front diff. Sucks to be us.
There is no doubt Toyota knows the correct way, the MkIV Supra and SW20 MR2 are proof. Perhaps now with the current Supra and 86, they just prove they're smart enough to hire development out to someone else who will do a great job.
But the thing I definitely do like about the GR Corolla is that it is all Toyota. I don't think it's a bad car, by no means! But I would put the Type R, Golf R, and the Evo X in front of it for my intended usage. I would almost definitely take the Corolla over an STI or a Focus RS.
While I do, now, prefer automatic transmissions for daily driving, it finally had one car, it would have to be a manual transmission.
I have another manual car, though, which is why I got the AT Supra (glad I did, too). So, now I can enjoy cruising around in the BMyota with coffee in my hand OR go knock out some lap times. But I digress, this isn't another Supra thread LOL.

Looks like people are getting delivery of their Corollas now. I see new posts on the FB group pop up every day now with them sitting in their garage/driveway. Only the Core is currently being delivered.
