Kinda what I was afraid of when they announced the Corolla GR...was how many units would Toyota actually plan to build and sell..? I was hoping it wouldn't end up like the BMW 1M which was made for only one model year and never seen again...but at least for BMW peeps they came out with the M2 a few years later which was much better so...Keep in mind recent changes in CAFE expectations from the current administration may have changed a lot of manufacturers calculations on upcoming models...(that combined with the push to electrification).

Yeah, no thanks. I would just take the $15K & roll it back into the EvO!

Lately, though, after attending a NASA track day, been thinking about a Caymen GT4 or S

yeah I agree, I'm thinking msrp +15k is prolly around 55-60k, for that price there's other stuff I'd rather have.

That being said I saw a regular 4dr Corolla hatch in person yesterday, its no Yaris but its still a pretty small footprint... considerably smaller than the Evo X I used to have... a performance oriented AWD system and 300-350whp in that package would be a lot of fun. Hopefully a couple years down the road they can be hard for MSRP, I definitely want one

Not considerably smaller. Maybe visually but actual dimensions, not by much... basically same width and height and just 5" shorter. Closest is the old WRX hatchback.

Evo 10
177" long
71" wide
58" high
Wheelbase: 104.3"

2021 Corolla hatchback
172" long
71" wide
57" high
Wheelbase: 103.9"

2011 Subaru WRX hatchback
173.8" long
70.7" wide
58.1" high
Wheelbase: 103.3"

2021 Subaru WRX
181" long
71" wide
58" high
Wheelbase: 104.3"

A90 Supra
173" long
73" wide
51" high
Wheelbase: 97.2"

2022 Toyota 86
168" long
70" wide
52" high
Wheelbase: 101.4"

dammit, I knew I should have looked up the actual dimensions... but yeah, to the eye it looks smaller. I'm surprised the height is only a 1" difference... to me it looked considerably shorter

I officially gave up on trying to get a GR Corolla. Deposit is now in on a base GR86. My broker said its going to be at least a 3 month wait but that the base models are coming in a lot quicker than the premiums. Ill try for a Corolla in another year or two.

Don't give in to the fomo madness, this is Toyota. I'm willing to bet there will be plenty.

If they only make them for 1 year a used one is NOT going to be cheaper, lol.

Keep in mind, especially here in California, once the electric car mandate kicks in, the nano-second that happens, every ICE car will sky rocket in value for the 1st several years of that mandate. Especially true for "enthusiast cars".

Depends on how hard they turn the screws on ICE with taxes.

ICE new car sales ban in California looks set to be 2035. With looks like a progressive increase until all total new cars sales are electric in 2035

If enacted, 35% of new cars, SUVs and small pickups sold in the state must be zero-emission starting with 2026 models, then increasing yearly, reaching 51% of all new car sales in 2028, 68% in 2030 and 100% in 2035. Of those, 20% can be plug-in hybrids.
We might see used ICE car prices increasing sooner than thought.

So all that said, if Toyota does make them for more than 1 year, and you can get one at MSRP, go for it. You are probably not going to loose money in the long run, if at all...
