I know 11 and 18 sound like low numbers, and I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but realistically if you're not under #5 you prolly aren't getting one... maybe if you're 6 or 7 at a high performing dealer thats gonna get a couple more allocations... if there are 6600 of these being made, there are 1500 Toyota dealers in the US, that works out to 4.4 cars per dealer
and the likelihood of people dropping out is basically zero. even if someone decides they don't want it they'll still buy it and flip it for a profit. Unless they back out cause the dealer is putting a massive markup on it but then you'd have to pay that massive markup as well.
My hope is that all these people are hoping to get a circuit edition and when they find out each dealer is only getting one, they drop out. I have come to terms that its not going to happen for me but I would still gladly take a core, with or without the LSD (which I think no LSD will be a big no go for a lot of people).

idk, the people that are set on a circuit edition will prolly fall back to the still buy it and flip it model for most. as far as LSD's... most people that are gonna buy these aren't gonna track them, where the LSD's are really needed. of those that do the majority might do it like once for the novelty. Plus there will be aftermarket LSD's for these if not from Toyota parts department... plus if you're at 11 thats prolly 4-6 people you gotta make it through that decide Core and no LSD's isn't worth it
edit: I'm really not trying to rain on your parade here, just being realistic. I hope you do get it cause it'll be another Supra-esque thread on there that I could live vicariously, haha
the question is if there's going to be a market/profit for mods. the collectors i know want 100% stock. Those Lancias being imported to the US are being restored back to factory spec by rally teams
there's definitely gonna be a market for mods, thats not even a question. maybe 30-50 years from now (like the Lancias) people are gonna be restoring them to stock, but now a lot of people are gonna mod them.
I honestly could care less if I got one with no LSD. This car would be my DD and most likely never see track use. However, I would prefer the LSD.
@warmmilk no worries about raining on my parade. I doubt I will be one of the lucky few to get one but one can hope, right? Still going to put a deposit on a GR86 this weekend as the backup plan and because I want one anyways.
The GR Yaris went through the same thing, was impossible to get at first and crazy wait lists. That said, the GR Yaris is MUCH more special as a very unique car, not sharing 95% of itself with the normal Yaris, compared to the GR Corolla which is more of a tarted up AWD Corolla.
Still a super cool car. I made the decision to sit by the sidelines and see how it goes.
yeah, but there were 25k Yaris's... only 6.6k Corollas
Just the first year. Even if it goes down to 6k/year it'll still probably add up to be somewhere around the Yaris numbers/year.
As for the LSDs I thought I saw they can be ordered on the base but come standard on the CE. The CE only stuff is the carbon roof, hood vents, bigger wing, seats and I think wheels on top of all the extra optional stuff. I really have to say the CE wing really changes the demeanor of the car. Suppose to each their own as to if that's a good thing or not.

I'm sure there will be a plethora of aftermarket wings available and prolly oem knockoff's. the biggest thing for me personally is the hood with its functional ducting from the engine bay and all... oem part is definitely gonna cost a small fortune to purchase as parts only and aftermarket versions will either lack quality or also cost a fortune... and then there's the carbon roof but personally I'm not too bothered about that. (don't ask me why the hood is a big deal to me, I don't even really know why myself, haha)
