Sounds just like.....

An Evo

I think the GR Carolla is a great option for those who can't find an Evo that they like.

Haha, yes, that recipe can apply to most (i.e. GR Sup). Just had my work mate run Streets of Willow over the weekend. He's got the GR Sup & was running hard w/a modded Lexus RCF. He ran a 1:25.7 on 300 TW tires

Except a Supra isn't AWD
1:25 is decent. I ran that in my Evo during a 90% lap (Turbo died before my hot lap... Still ended up 3rd in class lol). All things considered, that's good on that tire. I was on RE71s, I believe.
I'm thinking the Supra with coilovers/wheel/tires should be close to my Evo. Faster would be a bonus. Probably faster with wing and splitter. If not, that'll be a shame but I can live with it.
I need to get it my local time attack course to compare.

Your Evo run makes sense as my work mates vid noted a lot of 300TW tire squealing =) and i dont think he is as quick as you or our other Evo & Sup drivers. Great to hear the Evo at 90% was at that same lap time

Bittersweet... I let Navarez go ahead in his GTR so I wouldn't be in his way... nobody behind me... I went WIIIIIDE in the sweeper and had a mad run on the front straight. I was gonna hit turn 1 at Mach 1 it was all planned out, along with my line for a flyer lap... then my POS MAP turbo blew. Surprised/not surprised. I still wouldn't have scored 2nd place, but my PB would probably be about 1:23 or so. Not bad considering that was 255 RE71s and OEM aero. I need to go back before the car sells. Maybe in Feb or March of next year. I have more power now, more torque, a bit of rear aero, and much better tire. Damn it.. I need to sell the car but...

I’m with Motor Trend on this one. Yes, the Type R is wrong wheel drive. But it’s lighter, has lots more rubber, more rev capacity, greater displacement, and better styling inside and out.

The US Toyota is heavy, and the power is soft- it traps about what a manual GTI does.

I gave up on the GR Corolla. It's going to be greatly overpriced for what it is, thanks to dealers.
If I'm spending that much on a car, I will just stick with one of the ones I have. Anything I have, other than the Sequoia, are probably faster anyway. 😂

I am bummed, but oh well. The Yaris would have been really cool to have here, though.

It's almost exactly the same weight as a 20 year old Evo. Lighter than a current WRX, almost 200 lbs lighter than a Golf R and almost exactly two hundred pounds lighter than a Focus RS.

That's a silly comparison to make, the Yaris GR shares almost nothing with the normal Yaris. Total one off chassis for motorsports. Not just chassis stiffening, it's a completely different chassis than the normal Yaris. I think the Yaris GR only shares like the antenna and one body panel with the normal Yaris. Even if it was based off the normal Yaris, it would already start with a huge weight difference.
