C&C and pretty much every parking lot thing is a huge waste of time imho.

Funny story. I haven't tried to attend a parking lot meet in probably over twenty years. When I moved to the Hudson Valley here in NY, I didn't know anyone so I went to a local C&C. There where like 10 cars, none newer than 1985, except for one brand new Corvette C8 and the guy standing next to it was literally wearing a Corvette jacket and new balances. I drove through and never even stopped. I'm definitely not in California anymore.

I'll take the parking lots at the track over C&C any day of the week.

That would explain it.

I've never been to a cars and coffee where they segregate cars. That's pretty lame.

Houston is a bit different than other cities. There's just too much money from all sectors, several 'masterplanned communities', cheap mcmansions with humungous garages, all highway everywhere... so people just go all out on their trophy vehicles. heck poor people got better cars than me

I have some friends who like to do car meets and C&Cs.

Honestly, it's kind of fun to show up with the Evo. A lot of people start with questions about what I've done to the engine and get intrigued when I show them how little I've done to the engine and how much I've done on the suspension and motorsports-related changes. I try to bring some referral cards for our local SCCA group and info about how to get started with NASA track days. A lot of people have a passing interest in motorsports, but don't know where or how to get started.

It's also fun to have kids show up in their dad's $100K+ garage queen, then rush over to excitedly ask questions about my tired old Evo.

I would really caution you guys about where you show off your stuff. Meet ups are like a watering hole for thieves.
Sorry to be that guy....but I heard a lot of stories from people getting alarms installed after they got jacked.

I've been seeing people almost bragging on FB that they "only" paid $5k in ADM LOL

The C&C down here in San Clemente, CA is one of the largest in the country and even they just reserve a row or two for the really high-end exotics. Parking outside of that is pretty much a free for all like it should be.

thats where we recruit the US muscle guys. So we get to laugh at guys with Dodge Demons at autox/track. We also create a special class so C&C/club guys compete with each other (more like parading)

I'm sure thats how it started here but theres just too many now in this economy + social media photo op.
I've been to that tram ride in Palm Springs area (?) and the best roads there are just farm roads here. no hills or some weird parking situations at home

People have lost their minds paying $20k over for any car, let alone a Corolla.
